UM Offered preferred Walk-on FB Palazeti commits to MSU

Submitted by jtmc33 on
http://recruiting.scout.com/latestcommits/ It was reported at MGoBlog earlier last week that MI FB Niko Palazeti was coming to AA as a preferred walk-on, and a possible future FB for our program. Looks like he has a full ride to East Lansing.

Well, since 1/23/10, MSU has taken over Georgia and the JC's in Kansas as well as Mich: http://michiganstate.scout.com/a.z?s=175&p=9&c=8&yr=2010 MSU's top 25 class is going backwards (now 28th) in the last two weeks. When are people going to write an article about RR out-recruiting Dantonio in Ohio???? Former Tressel assistant, former Cinci coach.

His only other offers besides MSU were Hillsdale, Northwood and Wayne State. Is Mark D. that obsessed with owning the state of Michigan that he offers our preferred walk-ons just to steal one away from Michigan? For the recruiting gurus: Why the lack of love for this kid? Palazeti had a good senior year rushing for over 1,200 yards and 24 TD's as a fullback and played on a state championship team. He was even voted the #5 player in the state by coaches and peers last year. (For whatever that's worth) I was hoping he'd turn into Rich Rods next Owen Schmitt. http://recruiting.scout.com/2/927884.html

doesn't really have athletic ability to make people miss, while he's a big RB in HS but he won't stand out as a FB with his size(his frame appears to be maxed out). Owen Schmitt is a lot more athletic(more athletic than given credit for) and can move really well for a big guy. In addition to it, he's plays with a mean streak and is very strong.

Good for the kid on getting a full ride from a D1 BCS school when his only offers weren't near that good. Can't blame him any for taking it. Bad for MSU though that they think they have to give a player of that caliber a full ride just to get one over on MSU. Will the Freep call this the in-state steal of the recruiting period?

this is karma for Valenti rediculing the Ray Vinopal commitment today b/c Vinopal didn't have any other major D-1 offers. But hey, at least he had SOME D-1 offers.

I go to school with him and watched just about every game this year. He is pretty damn good, but I don't know if he'll do great in the Big Ten. He won't be able to truck kids like he did in high school, although he won't be carrying it 20 times a game either. He should be a decent blocker. I'll ask him why he went to MSU though. I think he's been an MSU fan though. And they gave him a scholarship. He doesn't have to earn it there.

and it seemed that the kid was just looking for a chance to play D-I... he made the right calls to Wiscy and MSU and since CMU & WMU play more wide open, he wasn't offered there. Good for him to get a full ride.
