UM to host NW Freshman 4* LB Nigel Glover at BBQ at Bighouse

This could be a good get for the good guys.  He is a true freshman set to transfer after the upheaval at NW.  He is from Clayton (Ohio) Northmont.  This is the high school that Rod Moore attended, so likely some familiarity.

This would be his one free transfer so yeah, he should be immediately eligible.

Might start seeing this more with incoming guys getting cold feet and/or not realizing the situation is a good fit for them and using their one free transfer right off the bat. Marcus Adams is a hooper transferring from Kansas after really struggling in early practices, and after initially wanting to get out of his NLI to be an HS recruit again (this seemed very unlikely to happen), decided to go the transfer route.

Northwestern is going to be decimated. The money guys are heading for the tall grass so bye bye new stadium. Northwestern is a proud academic institution and I can imagine the school decides that where college football is headed is not for them. If so, they should join the Big East.

Some heavy hitters in there for future classes, but seems like a pretty light load this year... is that because guys are committing earlier and earlier? Seems mostly current commits, and then a push to 2025 with guys we havent heard about yet. In the past, it would be a huge recruiting weekend for the current class. seems to be primarily 2025

More and more the BBQ has been focused on bringing in kids for the future the last few years. For many of them it's their first visit to the school.  We have locked up most of our class for this year already (though I'm sure we'll add a few between now and signing day where we still have some gaps - secondary - or with the couple of elite guys we are still in on), so this is kind of the unofficial kick off for focusing on next year's class.

No, being stubborn is the right approach with the NCAA because they are weak.  Every other major program is stubborn with the NCAA and the NCAA simply wilts.  We are being way too conciliatory.  Per Sam Webb, the NCAA is looking for a win since they get so few, and this is their chance.

Toby is right, the suspension is more about his lie or "refusal to cooperate with an investigation" which is how I read it, but he may still have faced a suspension if he cooperated.  That, or the program would have been slapped on the wrist with something like "probation" and "loss of scholarships" which we all know would have been meaningless penalties.

To be completely clear, I don't care if Coach didn't cooperate with the investigation or not.  The NCAA doesn't deserve cooperation or the truth.  Continue to disregard them and move on.  Best policy.

If they didn't have proof, then Harbaugh (UM) wouldn't be negotiating. Somehow, some way, he got caught lying. This is college football, where boosters and rumors run rampant.

Either way, I'm not buying the four games either. I have no insider knowledge, but I wonder if the four games is what Harbaugh's team is negotiation down from. Maybe it's a 2-game suspension, if that.

I don’t believe that it’s necessarily true they have proof he lied. It’s kind of like I said yesterday. Him negotiating sounds more like a plea of no contest and isn’t admitting anything.

However, it’s entirely possible he was not 100% forthcoming.  So, the negotiations could include a lot of things. Maybe he agrees to publicly say what he did/said, and how that’s an infraction in exchange for only a 2-game suspension.  Or, maybe he’s in there trying to bend them over a barrel and tell them to fuck off because they have nothing but, because they’ve made up their minds, he needs to placate them somehow.

my point is we just don’t know.

My understanding is that he stated that he did not remember the incident...I mean its a fucking $10. hamburger...and that he's not willing to go along with the suggestion that he 'lied'. If so...how would anyone, including you, know that 'he lied to the NCAA'?

This is what was reported last year, when this 'story' first broke.  He didn't remember paying for lunch, or the tip, for two committed players that showed up one day in the offseason TWO YEARS prior to last year, when asked about it!  So essentially, he refused to admit to something he doesn't remember - which feels completely in line wiht the person Jim MF'in Harbaugh has proven he is over the decades.

The username checks out - this is why nobody likes Toby Flenderson.

The NCAA knows what its doing. You think Alabama has had the number 1-2 class for ten years and they are looking through their cheeseburger receipts from two years ago? Come on this is blatant shit. Imagine Michigan Realist losing his beloved Saban for 4 games because of a lunch from two years ago. He would lose his shit.

He's visiting OSU this week (canceled a trip to EL to fit that one in), already went to KY and then  to Michigan. Time to steal another Ohio recruit from Day and the Bucknuts.

What does it matter, Jim is leaving after this year due to the stupid NCAA. All current commits will decommit and no new recruit will want to come to a school that cheats.
