That's the surprise departure.
Muhammad in line to get some snaps this year.
Gosh do I miss Asiasi
Ryan Hayes too. He fits the role Wheatley mostly played. Maybe 4 games of action for each and another 4 for Schoonmaker.

With the new rule on freshmen I'll bet this is right.

It’s just the first 4 games not any 4 games.
I agree a freshman may now get a couple snaps particularly if one of the 3 upperclassmen TE misses time.
I’m sure others noticed that Gentry is now listed as a monstrous 6’8, 267 lbs. He’s basically a light, agile tackle now (who can split out and burn a linebacker). He wasn’t a terrible blocker last year so I wonder if picks up more inline blocking TE snaps that would’ve gone to TWJ. Eubanks may get more Y TE snaps?

Sorry, but you are flat out wrong. It is any four games with numerous sources pointing out the new rule's usefulness for bowl games.

Ah I misread then. My apologies, I stand corrected on that.
-1 for posting blatantly false information. It IS any four games.
thought he would do great things here. Once Sr left, I always feared this day would come

Maybe he did great things in the classroom
and in the community?
Sad face
He’s gone. Was never really healthy. It’s a bummer, but the TE position is pretty well stocked.
Oh, what could have been...
That sucks. He was a very intriguing prospect
Sad day in my opinion. Great young man.
He is no longer with us. Announcement will be coming. News should flow now.
any more coming?
Look at the roster...
Oh, for the edit function so this could be changed to sound less like he died...
If you read that and think that’s what he meant then that’s weird.
Wrong. Saying he’s no longer with us, sounds exactly like he died
I knew what he meant but that doesn't mean that that choice of words isn't most commonly used as a polite way to say someone died.
Off topic, but you have any news on Urban?
I heard he’s taking over for Papa John.
I thought he was papa John?
No he’s not racist, just sexist.
That sucks and is a real shame. Hope he's okay.
Is he getting a medical?
August 2nd, 2018 at 10:42 PM ^
Sad, will he be transferring or is he done with football?
He is most likely just taking a redshirt
Would have been a great LT. :(
August 2nd, 2018 at 10:19 PM ^
Except he wasn't the greatest blocker.
Would have been interesting to see what he could have done if he stayed at DE.
This is sad. It's not surprising, but sucks. It's like when a couple you really liked split up & you're not mad at either. I hope he does well in the future.
NB tweeted that he gone about 10 mins ago.
Could we stop doing these initial nicknames? Who is NB?

new balance?

Nick Baumgardner, Freep columnist and former MLive beat reporter.
Hopefully Gentry's blocking continues to improve. He's going to become an early round NFL prospect after this year IMO.
That's a shame. He went to school with my son in Ann Arbor kindergarten through 7th grade and is a nice kid and a helluva an athlete.
Wish him well.
I’m so sad about this. I was hoping he would have a breakout year. He’s been injured throughout his career at M...I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.
Just got the alert that it’s official. Oh well...
Well this stings less than I thought it may from hints umbig11 had been dropping. Really more disappointed in the loss of his potential than what he did. He was still our best blocking TE but thought he'd be so much more. Guess injuries have been a big reason for that.
He should have put on that last 20 lbs and been a great LT.
August 2nd, 2018 at 10:26 PM ^
I don't think he has the temperament to be an OL
August 2nd, 2018 at 11:53 PM ^
I think he did put on that last 20 lbs and that was part of the problem.
Another Michigan player cut down with injury, sucks
Roster Changes from 2017
Compare and contrast the 2017 Fall Roster and the 2018 Fall Roster
Among those who were on the Fall Camp 2017 roster and who at that time might’ve been expecting to remain at Michigan are: Kekoa Crawford, Wilton Speight, Drake Harris, Ryan Tice, Kareem Walker, Alex Malzone, Tyrone Wheatley, Jr., Elysee Mbem-Bosse, Ja’Raymond Hall, Maurice Ways and Ian Bunting, none of whom are on the Fall Camp 2018 Roster.
Going into last season if I saw that list I would assume:
Wilton had a great year and is going pro. Crawford would have surprised me big time because he was a true sophomore and slated to be our top outside returning receiver. Writing was on the wall for Drake and Ways. Tice? Would have assumed he never would have passed Quinn. Malzone would also have been no surprise. Walker would have disappointed me but the reasons were probably expected. Wheatley I would have assumed injuries and young guys passing him. Elysse and Ja’Raymond? Not too much on them. I would have been shocked to know Bunting would be gone to anywhere but the NFL after expectations.
A lot can change in a year for sure
Well poop....
Certainly stinks, but we’ve got several capable TEs on the roster already. Probably the only area of the offense we can afford to take a hit.
/pats self on back for knowing this would be a WD post.
