Toussaint might be playing his way onto the Ravens roster tonight

Submitted by Nitro on

Fitz hadn't seen much preseason action and has generally been projected as the odd RB out for the Ravens final roster, but with more than a quarter left in tonight's game, he has 10 carries for 76 yards (and one catch for 9). He also just had a 15-yard negated by a holding penalty, which would have pushed his yards per carry over 9 for the game.

If he does make the roster, he might get a decent amount of work in the first few games of the regular season with Pierce coming off a couple injuries and Rice suspended.  If not, tonight's game should at least get him some looks from other teams.  Either way, good for him after dealing with the broken leg and last seson's OL issues.

Rawls also had a pretty good night for CMU. 25 carrier and about 120 yards. Look pretty quick and churned his legs better than he did while at Michigan. Of course, they played Chattanooga too, but he looks like a solid MAC RB.

Happy for him. Always wish he was able to capitalize more on that awesome second half of the 2011 season that he had. But then again, with our recent O-Line issues, its hard to blame him for his lack of production.

I always liked Toussaint as a player and was always optimistic that he could carve out a niche for himself in the NFL based on what we saw in Ann Arbor. The game is just ending now, but his 17 carries for 103 yards stands, with the longest being a 23-yard run. Hopefully, he does make it onto the Ravens' roster. Good to see him out there.

Hopefully the Ravens can run the ball with Kubiak as OC. I drafted Ray Rice for that reason alone. Kubiak has churned out quality RB production year after year in his career, at both Denver and Houston.

Just depends on what you consider success.

Biakabutka and Howard (and Floyd) also hung around the league for a respectable about of time. Chris Perry would've hung around longer if he didn't get hurt so often.

I suppose we haven't had a superstar or 5,000 yard rusher in the NFL. But that's a lot harder than it sounds. Even harder in today's NFL. According to the source of all sources...Wikipedia, there are only 5 active rushers with 8,000 career yards or more. Only 28 players have ever broken the 10,000 yard barrier.

I believe Thomas and Biakabutka each had around 3,500-4,000 yards. Wheatley had about 5,000. Chris Howard was once married to Gabrielle Union.

Well... he played for a long time (10 years) but really wasn't very successful. One 1,000 yard season (1,046), and only two years averaging over 4 yards per carry.

He only had 8 100 yard games in 124 career games/

Less career rushing yards than:

Travis Henry

Rudy Johnson

Michael Vick

Natrone Means

He was really only a starter the first two years in Oakland, and even then he was sharing carries.

I was at the Saints/Ravens game last night. Fitz looked great. If the coaches are using preseason games to weed out who makes the final cut, I think Fitz is in great shape after yesterday's performance.
