Titans TE Delanie Walker: Harbaugh practiced in full pads

Submitted by Jim Harbaugh on

Good article on how crazy harbaugh is. He once dressed in full pads and practiced against the team. "He dressed up in full gear and practiced the whole practice – pads, helmets, everything on. He had the whole uniform on,'' Walker said of Harbaugh. "We came out and said, "Who is that dude out there? And it was Jim Harbaugh. He had some old high top cleats on. http://www.tennessean.com/story/titansinsider/2015/06/18/titans-delanie…

"He does whatever he feels like doing. Truthfully, I think Harbaugh still thinks he's a player, not a coach."

I don't know how many years of Harbaugh we get, but this will probably be the most entertaining era of Michigan football in my lifetime.

"He did pretty good. He just couldn't throw the deep, deep pass."

Has to be the coolest thing going for players to be engaged this way. Like something out of a movie.

If there is not a video of Jim Harbaugh in full pads on day 1 of Fall practice, I will be extremely disappointed and immediatly start the #FireHarbaugh hashtag on Twitter.

I get the sense that Harbaugh’s zealous passion for the game (and life in general) will have an infectious impact on the team, especially as the season progresses. It’s going to be great to observe his impact on the field first hand, in part because I am not exactly sure how his “craziness” will manifest itself. In this regard, I think will be a very unpredictable season, just as his first six months as head coach have been. #cantwait.
"I think he is going to be a great (at Michigan),'' Walker said. "People buy into his philosophy. Every team he has ever been on has been good, right? So you tell me what he is going to do. Young kids love to have a coach who is crazy."

Man, for as stodgy and conservative a program as we are, especially under Bo, we sure do produce some nutty coaches.

Who are the two strangest and craziest coaches in CFB?  Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh.

And where are they from?  Michigan and the Bo Schembechler tree.

You would have thought they came from the old XFL, not blue-blood Michigan.

My favorite aspect of this story is WHY Jim did it.  The team was short a Quarterback due to injuries so instead of facing that situation and saying, "What kind of practice can I put together without a quarterback?"...he bull rushes the problem and sticks himself in.  I love it.

That is an awesome story. Harbaugh is a hardcore football player and thought nothing of lacing it up to help his team. Can't imagine many other coaches contemplating that.
