Time for a New MgoBlog Banner - What Should it Be?

Submitted by xtramelanin on July 3rd, 2019 at 5:34 AM

Mates,

Looking at our banner, we have two now-departed basketball players on it along with big John Teske.  Wishing them well, nevertheless it seems like its time to get a new banner even if its only to tide us over until football season.  Baseball has to get some consideration, football always and forever, what else might make the grade?

Today's question:  Assuming 'we' need a new banner, what/who should be on it?  Have any pictures to share that might be good to use?

Happy day-before-the-4th.

This, or something else recognizing the baseball team. What these guys accomplished, when nobody expected them to, was incredible.

The spotlight usually falls on the stars in the marquee sports. For a few weeks, it should fall on the underdogs and the over-achievers. They earned it.

I agree!  As the biggest college sports blog, this platform could help push interest in baseball - if even for a few weeks.  Everyone was caught up, and even Brian got in on it with a couple of baseball stories.  To not give them a few weeks earned respect would be a tragedy of the platform Brian created - for which he purports to support Michigan athletics.

C'mon MGoOverlords!  Show some respect to the team that captured the blog's attention for three weeks with a completely unexpected run to the last possible game of the college baseball season!

I would like to see Shea Patterson in the banner. It’s awesome to have a QB with an elite presence. I don’t think we have had that presence since Henne. Robinson was certainly talented enough, and ha silently if charisma, but I think the crap offense of Borges and Hoke prevented this intangible presence in rambling about.

I like Shea but is he "elite"?  I didn't think so last year...if I'm wrong please tell me why honest question.

Edit: Meant as a reply to Gucci above...I suck at the interwebz!

You suck with your takes too... (only half kidding!)

I honestly think Shea is going to surprise a lot of people this year. Kid gloves are coming off and he'll be able to air it out/showcase his skillset. He WAS a 5* after all - they don't just hand those out to anyone ya know? Ultimately I think it boils down to how well he grasps the new offense and how long the offensive line gives him in the pocket. Excel at both of those things and I think Shea has the weapons to play his way into a first round pick.

I’d stick with baseball and let’s go with a hair theme. Tommy Henry’s always so kempt mane on the left, Jordan Brewer’s coif on the right, and Joe Donovan’s wild thing in the middle being tamed by his Team “153” headband.

OT section: My current cool story bro moment came last Friday. Tommy Henry and a few other players and Ben  Bredeson we’re sitting outside Goodtime Charlie’s as we were walking back from Pizza House . I said thanks for making our Michigan spring so enjoyable and yes my wife thought Tommy and his hair were just cute as a button.

We clearly need a quick link to all blog posts about any possible recruiting violations by any possible Michigan boosters providing speculative  evidence (with minimal context) for the NCAA so that we can be Leaders in Transparency.

It should also have a link to all the contributing OP home addresses in case they go Andy Moeller for some unexpected reason totally unrelated to their being dirty rats.

It's a "dead" period. Michigan is an elite university with an elite AD led by a roster of outstanding coaches who do an exceptional job of presenting their players with an exemplary experience of what interscholastic athletics is truly about. There should be a banner that pays tribute to Manuel and this fine staff of coaches who define "elite" in the best of ways...and "win" the Directors Cup.

It should just say MGOBLOG with no pictures, because, by the time that picture should be updated, the picture it is updated to should also have already been updated.

The Mgobanner should be the video of poor Bud Dwyer shooting himself on an endless loop.

Because that's what being a Michigan football fan is like.

Ps. Don't look for that video, you don't want to see.

I agree with baseball till football starts.

In football season it'd be nice to have a speed in space theme.

Something with JH and JH might be cool.

Just spit ballin' here, but Franz Wagner's mom is always a favorite.

Taylor Lewan seems to get a lot of play on the board, lately. Perhaps a picture of him demonstrating proper OT technique, as an inspiration to the younger tackles.

I'd like to see the picture all the other sports coaches took at the CWS in support of the baseball team. That was something special to see, that coaching (fraternity? sorority? what do you call it when it's both women and men?).
