Tim Brown discusses Jim Harbaugh on Cleveland Sports Radio

Submitted by MazingBlue on

While listening to BullandFox show in cleveland they brought on Tim Brown, ex Oakland Radier Receiver, and they discussed Jim Harbaugh. Basically Tim Brown says "I think it is a big, big chance Harbaugh goes to Michigan, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Here is the link http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2014/12/05/tim-brown-on-jim-harbaugh-i-think-its-a-big-big-chance-he-may-go-to-michigan-once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity/

He starts discussing it at around the 9:40 ish mark. First post here.

Brandon never even offered him the job last time around.  Les either.

He wanted a lap dog so he could play coach, and neither of them would have put up with his crap.

I'm also firmly in the Harbaugh-or-bust camp.  I don't want to be looking again in 4 years.  Although in that period of time Dantonio might leave and MSU's dominance over UM may begin to ease.

has buried the real lede in this interview: Brown saying that he dislikes Rudy, and that Joe Montana once cussed out Rudy while he and Brown were standing on the sideline in South Bend during a 2011 game between ND and Penn State.

Apparently, Rudy is a real ass, according to Brown, who said he once attended a Biletnicoff Awards dinner in which Rudy was the night's guest speaker, and he arrived at the dinner during cocktal hour demanding to give his speech immediately. So everyone was directed to hear him give a 7 to 9-minute speech before dinner and then he left.

Brown said he just doesn't like the guy.

Not so sure he knows much about our search but I would assume he is tied to it for a number of ways. One he has his own Sirius XM NFL Radio show covering the Oakland Raiders thus I am sure he has to have numerous sources close to the Raiders. This is significant because the Raiders are a "hot" spot for Harbaugh to land. If Tim Brown is saying Michigan is very likely and dismissing the Raiders talk, this could be viewed as a positive.

Secondly, this is one of the first NFL sources or individuals to state that he may indeed leave the NFL and the possibilities are good.

This was my take on it when listening to it and the reason I posted it. Not because it was some no name guy talking about Harbaugh. No, I feel like there is a little more to it and that is why I felt it deserved a posting.

Which do you think is the most meaningful and long-lasting:

  1. Restored UofM's football program to an elite status
  2. Won a Superbowl

I agree.  That's what I think gives us the best chance of getting him.

1. Staying in the same sunny state you've chosen to call home for 20 years, where your current wife is from, where your ex and kids live.

If the Raider job is avail, we have ZERO chance.

Did you really just log in right now to post this over and over?  We've heard you, and while a valid concern I can't imagine that he'd be the first person to leave his "sunny state" for a job, whether it be in AA, Chicago, New York, or Atlanta.

Anyone else catch an article earlier today about JH's daughter Grace from his first marriage & a custody issue?  She is still a minor and if Jim leaves the state of Ca. it could present a custody  "issue" per the article...  Sounded like $$$ could fix it - but...  also cited a Red Wing that left and signed with San Jose due to the same situation...

Could be a factor - especially given f'd up California law.

Read it this morning on my phone and now can't find anything about it...

Don't really need an article. The guy has a 14-y.o. daughter with his ex, he personally has 20+ years of roots in California, his new wife has lived there her entire life. If the Raiders are an option, Michigan is a futile pitch. And none of us can blame him.

In other words, "I don't want him coaching my Raiders, so I hope he goes to Michigan"?

I can't buy a guy who has chosen to accept job after job in California for two decades, with young kids and a born & raised Californian new wife, ex wife and kids, going across the country to Ann Arbor, Michigan if the Raiders' job is there for the taking. It's just not realistic what-so-ever.

The guy loves California. Period.

I don't understand all the people who say 'its a once in a lifetime opportunity' and 'its now or never.'  If he doesnt take the job now he can still take it in 3 or 4 years when we fire the next guy.

I would not be surprised if Harbaugh is not stating his intentions on the Michigan job to use it as leverage. I know people think he wouldn't do this to Michigan but this is business. I have never thought he was coming to Michigan. He will be coaching in Oakland next season.
