Is there going to be a “Blue Out” for the Michigan State game?
I’m seeing a ton of social media suggesting there is going to be a “Blue Out” for the MSU game but I can’t tell if any of it is coming from the football program or Athletic Department. Has anyone seen anything to suggest that this is “official”? Truth be told, does it matter? I guess the fans can make it happen too.

Don’t know, but that would be cool.

There’s gotta be a better way to say that. You go buy yourself a tape recorder and record yourself for a whole day. You might be surprised at some of your phrasing.

Yo, listen up here's a story...

I believe the school announced it on twitter. Curious how the maize pom-poms and the blue out look together.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:20 AM ^
Probably pretty good honestly. Pop of moving color on a dark background? Could look pretty cool if pulled off.

Is the future two-toned?

I think that maize pompoms may be essential if everyone wears blue. It's not just a question of color but of projecting the power of the crowd. If everyone put their hand over their pompom, you see all blue and then--boom--they waved the pompoms. . . that would be the stuff. We need a day of experiment and practice at the Big House. :)

The maize rage Twitter account tweeted it. I haven’t seen anything from the athletic department.
October 19th, 2022 at 7:26 AM ^
I dunno. Wait and I'll create a post for the message board, do some inquiring. . .
If we can say with certainty that we blue out MSU afterward, I'm all for it, though.
October 19th, 2022 at 7:39 AM ^
Yes, UM announced it Tuesday night
BLUE OUT
October 19th, 2022 at 7:43 AM ^
Where was it announced?
October 19th, 2022 at 8:21 AM ^
At the stadium, when we play Sparty.
🤪
October 19th, 2022 at 11:33 AM ^
OK, I was wrong. Only Maize Rage announced it on twitter and I took that for an official announcement. Since then I've seen it posted my many Michigan related accounts but not officially official
October 19th, 2022 at 7:47 AM ^
Unless I see something from the official football or athletics account, I'll be wearing my normal gameday attire.
October 19th, 2022 at 7:58 AM ^
This is not an official blue out by the athletic department. It has been generated and pushed by the maize rage (students). Don't think about it just do it.

This is the tweet

Hopefully afterwards the headlines read: Mel done got Blue Out!
October 19th, 2022 at 10:41 AM ^
Was thinking a before and after headline:
"Tuck Comin'; Blue Out".
October 19th, 2022 at 12:00 PM ^
His friends call him "Money Shot".
October 19th, 2022 at 12:14 PM ^
"Blue-ti-ful!" (above-the-fold photo of Corum dusting the entire MSU team)
"Wolverines Show their Blue Colors in Dominant Win"
"Even Spartan Fans Left the Stadium Feeling Blue"
October 19th, 2022 at 8:07 AM ^
A "Blue Out" is right up there with The Halo and an on-field DJ as dumb ideas for Michigan Football.
The Big House at night with people dressed in a dark color will look boring, soothing and empty.
The maize at night POPS. Stick with it.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:15 AM ^
Can't this fan base try something new one time without being all up in arms about it? Iowa's blackouts at night look awesome. Black doesn't POP.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:39 AM ^
Iowa, Texas Tech, and others do blackout games at night that look awesome. Blue would have the same effect.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
He doesn't want anyone to steal his BLUE HEART!!!
October 19th, 2022 at 10:45 AM ^
Agree.
If the crowd all wears the same color, it’s intimidating regardless of what the color is. I’m biased and think nothing looks cooler than a maize out, but if we pulled off all blue, I think that would be pretty awesome.

Username is a perfect fit!
October 19th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
The nighttime Iowa Blackout doesn't POP but the Michigan MaizeOut POPS day or night.
Stick with what works.

I say lets take it a step further. Bring bag the bumble bee uniforms.

Dude, your grandmother called - she wants her pearls back.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:08 AM ^
as long as there are maize pom poms.... otherwise it'll not look spectacular.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:18 AM ^
Iowa would disagree with you.
October 19th, 2022 at 11:10 AM ^
This looks like the Orcs army from LOTR
October 19th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
I was thinking that mall parking lot scene from the Dawn of the Dead remake but same difference.
October 19th, 2022 at 7:05 PM ^
For some reason I thought of Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain when I saw that field.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:22 AM ^
If they do a blue out, I can't wait to see how many UM fans finally find Maize colored cold weather gear in their closets after not having any for years.
October 19th, 2022 at 9:28 AM ^
this is the thing that makes me sad - I *have* maize gear for this purpose - but nothing blue that's appropriate
October 19th, 2022 at 9:45 AM ^
What self respecting Michigan fan doesn't have a blue M sweatshirt?
Seriously though.
October 19th, 2022 at 9:56 AM ^
sweatshirt, sure... will that be warm enough for late Oct?
(I hate being cold)
October 19th, 2022 at 12:56 PM ^
It's all about the layers. Long-sleeve shirt, hoodie, jersey on top. I have a black, long-sleeve thermal shirt and a blue, fleece-lined hoodie that work perfectly for this.
October 19th, 2022 at 10:15 AM ^
Hey, hats off to you for getting maize stuff for games. I think blue is much simpler and cheaper to piece together than maize, so there really should be little excuse for most people. Hell, just put a ton of layers on and throw a $5 plain dark blue t-shirt over it. Doesn't have to michigan branded or anything. There is a lot of easy to find dark blue pieces of clothing out there.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
After the PSU game I thought Michigan should paint the seats maize, so that bare spots or whatever you can see through standing fans supports the maize out better.
Then the next game we start talking blue-outs...
October 19th, 2022 at 9:46 AM ^
What bare spots? This isn't Spartan Stadium (the Woodshed).
October 19th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
I hope Warde Manuel orders 250 thousand Maize Pom Poms.
They seem to run out prior to the last 20 (or more) thousand fans going into the game don't have a selection when they enter.
Just plan to give every fan two pom poms - and, if there's anything left over, I'm sure they can be put to use in the next "out" - regardless whether it's maize or blue.
I'm hoping there's a lot of "pop" with the pom poms and blue attire.
It would seem that it goes without saying... Go BLUE!
October 19th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
I haven't seen anything official from the department either, but a Blue Out would be much better than 100,000 of us having a blow out in Michigan Stadium. That would take forever to clean up.
(Well, we are welcome to blow out MSU, of course)
(I'll show myself out, thank you. No need to shove me out the door.)
October 19th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
When teams do the black outs it's pretty sweet. Iowa does the black out with the yellow pom poms and it's freaking sweet.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
If that is the case, then I have to imagine there's a real good chance the team is wearing all-maize uniforms.
October 19th, 2022 at 8:58 AM ^
The all maize uni is TERRIBLE!!! It didn't look right against UF, it doesn't look right when WVU wears them, and it doesn't look right when Oregon wears them. They are awful! Adidas highlighter look, because it can't look like anything else.
All maize bball uni's look great. But basketball is not football. Keep yer goshdern yellow highlighters in Morgantown!
October 19th, 2022 at 11:58 AM ^
Have to agree; I'm not a fan of all Maize football uniforms.
