Terrance Shannon to Illinois... But the story isn't over there.

TL;DR: In a now-deleted tweet, Hunter Dickinson accused Texas Tech coach Mark Adams of not allowing Shannon to take summer classes and get his degree, sabotaging his player's ambitions to graduate and move on.

Additionally, Jace Howard tweets a similar allegation:

Story goes

Shannon wanted to attend UM, Admissions suggested go graduate at TTU in spring/summer and come in the summer.

TTU said we aren't paying for your classes you already left

To be fair…I kind of see the TTU side if this is how it played out. If the kid wants to be let out of his scholarship to transfer, then the school is not obligated to pay for his classes after he has completed the current semester. Now the righteous thing to do would be to let him finish so that the young man completes his degree.

Very sad scenario on Michigan's end if they lose out on a great 2-way player in Shannon, now settling for Emoni Bates if the rumors are to be true.

Emoni may have a higher ceiling for success, but his efficiency ratings, defense and overall terrible attitude say otherwise.

The attitude and athleticism concerns with Emoni are fair from what we have seen/heard, but keep in mind he was a 17 year old freshman most of the season after re-classifying to skip his senior year of HS ball. His NBA hype has taken a big hit but he still has a good chance be a great college player. But will he be a great team player...

Can he go to Illinois during the summer and get his classes and then grad school to Michigan? I don’t know if it is even possible but that would be the ultimate punk of Illinois

If he finishes those classes at TTU, he graduates and gets his degree. Then, when he tries to enter UM, its as a Grad-Student, which is easier from an admissions perspective than him coming in and trying to finish his undergrad and get a UM undergrad degree since he will not have enough UM credits to meet the criteria when he is done.

So UM admissions gave him a way in, and TTU (seemingly) said sorry, we won't help you do that since you are leaving.

Could the Michigan Money Cannon not have provided the tuition or scholarship at TTU for a semester to allow him to graduate? I mean, it was clearly just about funding those classes since the coach couldn’t just kick him out of school entirely, right? Wondering if there would’ve been some creative NIL way to make this still happen?

This is my question!  Maybe a few thousand $$ to complete his classes, depending on how many there are - surely NIL could have covered that easily.  I wonder if there was some stipulation with the scholarship such that he just couldn't get classes coming in off the street, essentially.  I dunno...

It sounds like TTU may have a legit case, but not all legit things are the right thing to do.  I'm glad that both Hunter and Jace called out Adams for being a louse.

I don't know where to put this because it doesn't warrant a post imo, but Frankie Collins has completely cleaned his Instagram of anything Michigan related. There was rumors of attrition but Collins was not the person I was remotely thinking it would be

I don’t want him or Bufkin to transfer. Frankie seemed happy for the most part. Even made a post about that Wong or whoever from Miami trying to extort more money to stay and how crazy that was. He and Barnes seem close in their photos though and Barnes was rumored to be unhappy. I hope it’s nothing.
