In 2004 everyone was terrified and on pins and needles as a true freshman trotted out to take the first snap. In 2009 we are all relieved and excited that a true freshman will trot out and take the first snap.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said on his radio show Thursday that true freshman Tate Forcier will start at quarterback in Saturday's season opener against Western Michigan. "It was so close," Rodriguez said. "There was a lot of give and take and going back and forth, and really it was the performances maybe he did in the scrimmages. But really I'll tell you it was so, so close for us and we felt comfortable we could put any three of them in there."

Also noted is that Carlos Brown will get the start, but that Minor is expected to get some playing time. Good to hear that the ankle isn't so serious as to prevent him playing.

...and there goes the "thank you" start I thought Sheridan would get. The last few years, we have gotten used to seeing UM struggle against teams they should beat. I have a feeling that RR is going to want to hang a lot of points on WMU Saturday.

Good to hear! I'm an engineer, so I think I'll do well on the math sections, and I don't think the verbal stuff is scrutinized so much for engineering grad students, so that's good. As long as I can get into Michigan I could really care less what my score is. Anyone know what kind of score would get me in?

I wouldn't sweat your lack of study on the verbal. A buddy and I tried work a vocabulary list from one of the GRE prep books for several weeks. Of the thousands of words we attempted to memorize, I saw one on my test and my buddy saw none. The math on the other hand was worth looking at (if only to see the type of problems on the test.)

The mean score for engineers across the board is 468 and 717 for verbal and quantitative, respectively. Writing is 4.1, so, uh, just spell your name right. Not sure about Michigan, but you'd have to imagine significantly higher than that. Still, you never know what'll get you in. I wouldn't lose confidence if your score is not necessarily perfect.

So, I took it without knowing it was computer adaptive. I was like, this is incredibly easy, then, 4 questions later, this is incredibly hard. I ended up, uh, guessing very fast at the last 7 questions. Oops.

There's no need to do anything but wing the GRE. I went in with about 2 hours of prep time under my belt, believing (incorrectly, as it turns out) that graduate humanities programs would not really care about standardized tests. And I still got what I needed to out of it. It's basically the SAT with harder vocab.

I really think that WMU will struggle with our offense. I've watched some things from last and year and from this year's spring squad and they seem really slow at the linebacker position and I don't think there d-line can hang with our o-line. I expect Carlos Brown to have a monster game. Look for him to be the star of the game.

Coach Tony Gibson just finished an emotional few minutes. "I played for coach Rod in 1991-1995 and he changed my life." He talked about all RR does for the coaches and the players. Then there was a long silence. Finished up with "There is no one in the country I would want to coach with besides coach Rod." Either everyone (RR, coaching staff, players) are blowing smoke up our ass or this team has never been more together. Anyone who says differently is just flat out lying.

Are you trying to impugn the character of Mr. Drew Sharp? He’s a columnist for the Detroit Free Press, so he automatically knows way more than us (or anyone else in the free world). It's a privilege just to read...nah, I can't go on with anymore of this B.S.

Actually, it's laughingly easy. You don't have a job, you love MGoBlog, and you just post, post, post. Say you post 10 comments an hour (that's less than 1 every 5 minutes). That is 80 posts a day (and that's only an 8 hour day). In 10 days, you have 800 points without a single up vote! Can't remember how long this point thing has been active. But, in just a short 100 days, you would have 8,000 points! Or, you could do what Jay did and have a bunch of your unemployed friends up vote on every post you make. Then you would probably have around 80,000 points!

Oh, lord. Alright I guess I have to make a serious post here about this incredibly lame discussion topic. 1) I post a tad more than normal. I may have 10-20 posts some days. This is not an egregious amount, but it's more than the people here who only check the board a few times a day. 2) I tend to post highly polarizing jokes/epinions. So, as an example, let's say I make a joke like one of the ones currently getting me negbanged. I get two points. Someone negs me for it, I lose one. Two people happen to find it funny and upvote me. I gain two points for each of those votes, so four. Then, three more people neg me. I lose three points. So, I've gained six points in total and lose four... even though the post itself shows "-2".
