Michigans offense is loaded going into next year and you have to imagine Gattis is getting a head coaching offer in the P5 after another good season so why would he leave for a rebuild? Pay the man and put this to bed.

Has NOTHING to do with that and everything to do with Gattis wanted an extension and more loot after last season and M said no.

His speed in space was more self promotion and the things changed when JH took the O back under his wing, brought in some coaches and made Gattis look like a super star.

Probable a good idea for him to leave, his hype is at its apex. Sell HIGH.

This is interesting,

"Because Harbaugh left his entire staff and program hanging in the wind for two month's"

Do you actually believe this?

Personally I saw JH all over twitter and the gram out on the recruiting trail with his assistants at least every other day. I saw him squatting at a recruits HS, I saw him at a recruits BBall game, I even saw him at a M Hockey game..........not exactly sure how that is twisted into leaving them hanging for two months.

Maybe you should have just said, because you fell for every BS tweet and listened to the clickbait con men and allowed yourself to be manipulated by social media headlines you were confused and unsure what was happening within the program so with that, more than likely the coaches were as confused as you were. But they were not. Just you.

Taking the same job at a smaller program would be a bizarre thing to do unless a) Miami is willing to pay an unheard of amount of money for a coordinator or b) the Harbaugh NFL flirtation did more damage to staff trust than we thought.

But "Miami is targeting" does not necessarily imply "Gattis is listening."  Miami could be "targeting" the ghost of Vince Lombardi.

Nope. That’s not what I am saying. What I am saying is that for all we know right now Sherrone Moore is still in the fold and he was Co-OC last year. His position group was the driver of last seasons success. Yet, the solution everyone has is “make Mike Hart OC.” Over the guy who was Co-OC and who had an even better position group. Why overlook Moore for Hart?

That was quick. Wonder why he’d choose Miami over Michigan

edit: also this lends credence to the Balas report that maybe Hart had passed Gattis. Taking a lateral move to a worse offense is something you do if you’re disgruntled.

Or maybe he’s thinking show he can do it at another place next year and he’s got himself an even better case for a big time coaching job. And maybe they paid him more?  Also it’s Miami and he’s in Ann Arbor in February? Could be lots of reason.

edit: dunno how my reply ended up here. Oh well.

Yes. But disgruntled because of getting passed by. This move is in no way a positive for Gattis. Michigan's offense for the next two years has a chance to be explosive and elite. This tells me that Jim is not unhappy about Gattis leaving.

I can't help but wonder if this is the first real collateral damage from Jim's "hall pass" to look around.

Timing is odd.  School selection is odd.

Gattis felt like Jim was always going to get more credit for the offense than he was. Yes I know he just won a Broyles award, but a lot of people think Jim’s hand is still all over the offense. Getting away from Jim for a year or two helps him prove it’s his success and helps him move up the ladder towards being a head coach.

I personally believe Weiss had a lot more to do with the offense than people realize. Weiss is known for helping make play calls and keep things in rhythm. Gattis biggest problem before this year was people complaining the offense was all over the place and he would have some success with stuff and then abandon it.

This is honestly better for Gattis and Michigan to be honest. I think Weiss had a ton to do with the success this season. And Gattis needs to prove he’s the real deal. I also think Gattis will never has as much success as an OC as he did this year. Take that for what it’s worth.

In this situation it was best for everyone involved. Losing Mike as DC hurt way worse than this will. Also Hart has been an associate head coach at two programs and has been groomed to be a head coach. He was more likely to be promoted over Gattis and I think Gattis realized that. Hart would be the kind of guy to hire successful OC and DC and let them do their thing much like Dabo. Hart is a lot closer to being a head coach than Gattis.

Gattis biggest problem before this year was people complaining the offense was all over the place and he would have some success with stuff and then abandon it.

What is interesting is people in the past would say Harbaugh had final say and it was his offense not Gattis' so how can Gattis be faulted with a disorganized offense or going away from stuff when folks didn't believe he wad calling plays anyway? I do agree its best for him to leave because he will alway get the blame for the poor outcomes and not be given enough credti for the successes of offense.

I guess Bruce Feldman doesn't mind being wrong as long as they'll let him keep throwing shit against the wall.  Gattis is smarter than to leave UM to get to miami

Can everyone just leave our coaches alone already. FFS!

Also, with the kind of talent we have returning this year Gattis should be able to call his shot for an HC spot next year. Don't see why he would make an, at best, lateral jump especially at this point in the season.

There have been whispers about off the field things with gattis and he would be gone either way. Thought they were just internet bs. Maybe maybe not. He could have just wanted to get more autonomy and live in Miami.
