It's crazy how well Shazier has been dealing with his injury given it may end his career (he still has some hope of coming back and I won't tell him he's wrong)  .. I guess we all can get along sometimes

It's a big field-that this game is played upon. Speed is becoming increasingly valued and the package that Devin brings it in is very highly valued. If this kid can stay healthy he should make a serious run at Canton.

But muh Aaron Rodgers!

I live in the UP, basically Packer country, and being a Steeler fan I know the impact injuries have on QBs, especially when creating something out of nothing/scrambling around is a large portion of their game. Rodgers is not going to age well and is already showing signs of decline, but it's all just a constant circle jerk about him.

The Lion's new offense is very TE-centric and they didn't just get Hockinson, they drafted Nauta (whom we all should know well from his recruitment), signed Jesse James and will likely carry another TE on the roster (my money is on Logan Thomas).  All of the TE's who were on the team last year are very unlikely to make the team.  That says a lot of things about how bad the position was last year for the Lions and how much of a focus it is to change it this year.

edit - all 4 of the TE's I mentioned are good blockers AND receivers though some of them are better at one than the other

This is the difference between the Steelers and the Lions.  The Steelers drafted Jesse James in the 5th round and his production easily exceeded his draft position and salary the 4 years he was a Steeler.  Over those 4 years, he was paid a total of $4.1 million.  Now he will become a highly-paid Lion and will struggle to be worth his salary and $7.1 million signing bonus.  The Steelers, meanwhile, let him go and will eventually replace him with Zach Gentry, drafted in the 5th round.  Rinse and repeat.

"...would be several nails in the coffin."

As it should be...  I was a fan of Quinn the last couple of years, but taking a TE at #8 lost me.  Completely.  If this kid isn't an outright stud, Quinn should be fired.  Case closed.  A TE is a luxury pick, and the Lions cannot afford luxury.

I said the same thing when they took Ebron...  Horrible choices.

A few other good quotes about Bush from a different article:

  • Devin Bush bullied Benny Snell Jr. with his first step, inside and outside rush moves and pure bull rushes for most of their seven matchups. Tomlin said he intentionally pitted the rookies against one another. On the final of these reps Snell did manage to push Bush around the outside. “There you go, Benny Snell,” Tomlin shouted as the drill came to a close.
  • Tomlin visibly perked up after Bush spun past Snell so cleanly the fourth-round pick barely got hands on the first rounder. Both he and Ben Roethlisberger appeared genuinely taken aback.
  • As the drill wound down, Tomlin asked for inside linebackers to rush off the edge. Williams and Bush had by far the cleanest rushes from the position.

He will be the anchor of that defense.  Speed from sideline to sideline is the best I have seen.  I would not want to be a GM that passed on him.  He and Winovich seem to be steals at this early point.

The Lions could have used him, but we can only hope the TE they drafted works out.

Steeler fan here. From Bush's sophomore year on I was telling anyone who would listen that he would be a great fit in Pittsburgh. So very glad the Steelers have yet another Michigan linebacker...hopefully he can win as many Super Bowls with them as Larry Foote or LaMarr Woodley did.

Gonna miss watching him play on Saturdays at the Big House. Incredible athlete.

That said, I’m confident we will see some new looks from Brown and the LB corps - I’m sure we’ll have some moments early on but looking forward to seeing what Ross, McGrone, Anthony and co. can bring.

Regardless, I hope Shazier finds a way to get back onto the field at some point. Even if he went to OSU, you never want to see a guy get injured. Especially not in the way he was. The fact that he came so close to never being able to walk again, and now we're talking about him possibly making his way back to the game....you can't tell me that wouldn't be inspirational.

I was always nervous if Bush had to sit out a play  for some reason or other. He was so fast between the sidelines. Great player. Not to mention his stellar performance pre-game at Spartan Stadium. I will miss him.

Man, I LOVE DB2, he was good with my 9 yr old son the few times he met him in A2, BUT my brother is a HUGE Steelers fan, was at their camp, and said he was totally ignoring kids, wouldn't sign, etc. Said all Steelers fans there talking about it, said he's been a Dbag all camp so far. I'm sure they'll like him based on his on field performance, but said to hear it's getting to his head already.

Michigan Alum Me: I'm happy he went to the Steelers cause they'll know how to use him properly and the dude will prolly have a fantastic career.  Go Blue.

Cleveland Browns Season Ticket Holder Me: Screw that guy and fuck everybody in Pitts-puke.  Too bad he had the misfortune of getting drafted by them just as CLE started to rise.  Hope you enjoy losing to us just as much as we enjoyed losing to you.

I'm conflicted.
