Stauskas, McGary and Robinson III file for evaluations by Advisory Committee
In a surprise to no one, but probably more important tham who's wearing Michigan apparel threads, Mitch McGary, Nik Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III have filed to request an evaluation by the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee.
but did they wear their Michigan hats on their way to file the requests?!?!? And who looked the best?!?!?
/s
did. McGary looked the best. He was the belle of the ball!!!
What about Dakich?
Everyone knows he's a lock for the #1 pick.
Dakich already said he's coming back. I don't want to see the MGoMeltdown if he takes a 180 and seeks an evaluation.
this is routine for great players every year in college ball man. even for ones that spent most the the year injured. not everyone who files for evaluations are a lock to make the jump to the pro's.
slightly an over the top reaction for humor's sake. I realize its routine. This ain't my first rodeo.
Quick, MGoBender. Remove your CoE shirt and rock that Stauskas, McGary, or Robinson jersey. The more public support our players get, the more likely they are to ignore the obvious rubbish advisory advice spewed by the Undergraduate Advisory Committee. And maybe pass on a message to your dear friend Leo to do the same.
Stauskas, McGary and Robinson jerseys? I'm sorry, you must be confused. The only NCAA licensed jerseys that are allowed to be sold are generic school specific jerseys with random numbers on them (which if they happen to coincide with the numbers of any current student athlete, it is due to pure coincidence). We apologize for any confusion, and we thank you for your money.
- Sincerely, Mark Emmert
I don't care where you fall on the issue of paying players or allowing them to get paid but you have to love this stunt by Jay Bilas

But does the Undergraduate Advisory Committee take into account the current estimated pool of draft entrants in their evaluation? That would probably be hard, because at this point no one has any idea of who will actually declare. But this draft has been noted as being loaded, and I'm not sure if they include that in the evaluation of where they may end up.
as well as who has applied for evaluation.
I've added a link below that I found a few weeks ago. It explains the process well.
Players have until today to file for evaluation. They get the evals back by next Monday. The committee takes into account everyone who has filed, as well as the actual graduating players.
Doesn't every kid who has aspirations of playing at the next level file this evaluation?
yes. GRIII and MM did this last year.
Not even the people who panic about everything...have panicked about this.
J-Mo had a better chance of mysteriously returning for a 6th year than these guys not putting their names into the committee. Doesn't mean anything. Somewhat surprised Caris didn't too just so he could see where he was and what he needed to work on.
This is really a great service the NBA offers to the college kids. Takes away much of the risk that comes with making the leap. Does anyone know how long it has been offered? I'd be curious if MSUs Marcus Taylor was privy to that same service back in the day - he's always been the poster child in my mind for guys making a terrible decision to leave early.
So was Joe Dumars retirement-it cost Trey Burke 7 draft slots.
Your joke doesn't make sense.
Lets hope that what GRIII and MM see convinces them that another year in school would do them some good. Stauskas will see a very high grade, so he would have to find other reasons to stay. Not going to happen.
.......and then all three decided that the NBA could be conquered later and that there was more work to do and they decided to use up all their eligibility and lead Michigan to two straight National Titles!!! and elsewhere in the nation and especially in Ohio there was weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Injury. Having an awful season. Off-the-court issues. Death. Ebola virus. Being squashed by BWC if he Dukes of Hazard's a car hood. SARS.
That's all I got for why NOT to come back. The rest are positives - much longer list but incidentially it contains SARS also.
and if he would come back next year i'm sure his parents would file for an insurance policy for his athletic abilities.
god awful dorm food.
There are a few million downsides, actually.
15th pick: guaranteed $3.1M
30th pick: guaranteed $1.8M
If you're told you could work your way into the first round with a few great workouts, that kind of money being that close (regardless of what your true odds are) is the kind of thing that sways people, regardless of where their families are. And keep in mind 18 to 21 year olds aren't typically known for their sound decision making.
You don't want GR3 to go the route of Manny or Darius but he has a bigger upside than both of those guys. Both GR3 and Mitch were feeling regret at various points over the season for their decision to return.
I'm sticking with my original call that all 3 are gone-zo. Caris, Derrick, and Zak you're up!
The 15th spot is a lot harder to deny since you would really have to be trying to give away money not to bank a little.
when GRIII has you
I'm a little surprised Caris didn't apply considering how high up he is on some of next year's boards.
I hadn't thought about that really, but you make a good point.

Starts to describe in detail how the terroirists are able to make explosive devices, I always wondered why the heck do you want everyone to know this? Your post makes me feel the same way. If Levert hasn't thought about doing this, why do we want to tell him he could?
It's possible LeVert did in fact ask for an evaluation. From Beilein's presser today:
Beilein: They've submitted several names to the Undergraduate Advisory Committee. He wouldn't say whether Caris LeVert's was one of them.

My cardiologist advises they stay in AA.
in these situations. He saw the bright lights, went to the NBA (2nd round) and played a little bit but now just sits on the bench and doesnt play...these young men are born to play ball and then they go in the NBA and they dont get to play the sport they love on a daily basis..gotta take advantage of being that go to guy in college...just my thoughts.
But if you are a lock for first round then you should go and get paid.
His jump shot needed a lot of work.
GROB is an inconsistent shooter, but his form is good and an NBA team will not be dissuaded by that. He's inconsistent in general, but NBA teams might feel like the right culture and teammates could really bring out more intensity.
Morris had more gaps in his game than Stauskas and GRIII.
In Joe Lunardi's way-too-early 2015 bracketology, UM is #1 seed. I don't have ESPN Insider, so I couldn't read what he based on.

because how useless is that? No idea yet who's even returning for all these teams.
Beilein: Mitch McGary worked with him for 20 minutes yesterday; he's trending toward being ready if he wants to work out for pro teams.

Seems like you wouldn't bother if you had the feeling of "I love college and want another chance at a NC - so I am staying"
Or do they receive feedback on what they specifically need to improve on for next years draft, if they don't come out.
They are provided specific feedback on what to improve in order to better their status. GRIII and McGary both went through this last year. Nik did not, but he was coming off of a season where he was mainly a role player at the time, I don't think anyone at the time would have thought he was remotely ready for the NBA.
I am betting that John Beilein was one of the first people to advise them to get their paperwork in, too. One thing recruits can trust at Michigan is that they will get great and honest advice from a coach who knows basketball.
