Stanford Grad Transfer...
According to rivals site..
Stanford sources feel senior defensive back Wayne Lyons of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. is working on the transfer process to play at Michigan for his fifth year. He was the Rivals 107 player in the 2011 class. May help a position of need quickly.

"sources" aren't showing up on twitter.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:09 PM ^
to twitter don't you?
You need to develop other sources of info besides twitter.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:13 PM ^
That sounds reasonable. But I'll head over to Twitter to confirm you're right about this.
February 3rd, 2015 at 2:19 PM ^
And waste my money on a recruiting site? Nah.
February 3rd, 2015 at 12:50 PM ^
Thanks for sharing paywalled Rivals info.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:13 PM ^
Sam Webb was hinting at this 2 weeks ago on GBW and a bunch of people could've run with that then, but didn't. I guess it's just too difficult now to keep information not meant for public distribution (on a more visible, free site like MGoBlog) to not get leaked.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:21 PM ^
Paid outlets don't have a copyright on news. It either happens or it doesn't. Anyone can report it. I really like the fact that outlets like MGoBlog have devalued the paid sites.

But to get all rule-sy on this subject, the OP went to far. He did exactly what you shouldn't do. To quote the FAQ page:
Can I repeat premium information?
To a limited extent. More details are here. Briefly: don't hit CTRL+C, and don't repeat every last detail.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:45 PM ^
Either there wasn't any more than the OP and it was just a few words as an announcement or he didn't repeat everything, right? If it's just the little blurb I believe the best thing to do is quote the sentence or so and provide a link to it.
The bigger issue I see is not having a link. The OP needs to get one up, ASAP.
February 3rd, 2015 at 1:51 PM ^
He copy and pasted the majority of the info.

I had a Scout membership for a year but knew very soon that I would unsubscribe. I suddenly had this overwhelming feeling that paying for info on children is wrong no matter the context or consent. I suddenly realized it's a model that exploits players no different than the NCAA in principle & can cause unnecessary stress in many of their lives. I found it to be a forum/model where people that topped out in HS (if even then) can live vicariously in the football world, gain power, authority, credibility, a wage & effectively govern over others. I found it more disgusting that it's adults doing it, basking in the things mentioned above. The kids are hounded by the age of 16 & not left alone until NSD+1 at 17/18yrs old BY ADULTS. We all say following/talking to recruits is sick, wrong, pathetic, etc but the "recruiting paysite model" & everyone in it that we throw adulation upon does exactly those things and far worse! Charging for what a kid said to you after you called his private number is not only disgusting but fleeting news. It will be known in time, often within hours of those that pay for said "news". FINAL THING: I was a Scout non-premium poster for a very long time up until 2 years ago. I had often said these very things & when quizzed on what I'd do to change it I offered up a model that is at least less disgusting while still providing the same service. You can still be a recruiting info site but give away the "news" & info for FREE by using an ad based system. Imagine NSD & the week leading up to it alone! NSD is the Super Bowl of site traffic for pay sites. The money to be made that day alone would be huge! Further, the people that truly had the best connections would get the most traffic so more clicks = more money = better sources. That's assuming nothing is going to stop these guys from stalking kids to keep their credibility up but maybe....just maybe "insiders" with enough clout would rise to the top and the system would change. Maybe guys that are respected enough would have the kids reach out to them when they wanted to release news & vultures would be shunned?!? Maybe the kids private lives, thoughts & decisions would be released when THEY wanted it to be instead of pressure to constantly give info? I think it could be done. The way of the paysite is dying, IMO. The info should be free & released by the player when the player deemed fit.

Edit: I wish I hadn't replied to this post so you could edit it later to put paragraphs in.

not sure if you're original reply was snarky or not but at least you understand the app's limitations. It's ok if you hated what I said, agreed or anywhere in between! I just hope it was written with decency. Either way, I'll edit if I can get to my PC & thx for understanding the app is virtually featureless.

How good is he? scrub, decent, or outstanding?

Starter, All-Pac 12 caliber, can play either CB or S. Would provide us some real flexibility with Peppers and the rest of our DB's.
February 3rd, 2015 at 12:59 PM ^
Yup, he had offers from everyone before ending up at Stanford: USC, UCLA, Florida, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami (TYM), FSU...

Michigan recruited him pretty heavily.

His final two were Stanford and Michigan. So he's familiar with the campus and obviously liked the school to an extent.

Someone we take in a heartbeat. Essentially as good as you could expect for a 5th year transfer, as if he was slightly better he probably would have declared for the draft. Buys harbaugh a year to get some more CBs.

Might have to wear another number here, but sounds like a solid player and a net add on defense. Come on over Wayne!
February 3rd, 2015 at 12:51 PM ^
I'm a grad student at Stanford and watched Wayne play this year. He'd be a great addition to our secondary. The DBs are well coached here and he showed a lot of poise in his coverages throughout the season.

Looks like he announced a couple of weeks ago he was staying at Stanford for his 5th year. Interesting.

Well he tweeted this, but it seems like the Stanford paper took it as if he was staying at Stanford. Does not say that in the tweet.
I have decided to stay in school and take advantage of an opportunity to get better in my fifth year of eligibility! !

Only thing showing up on a google news search is this one:
http://www.stanforddaily.com/2015/01/15/corner-wayne-lyons-will-stay-at…
...which says he's staying put. The main point of that moment (uh, a couple weeks ago) was that he wasn't entering the draft. But it still seems like a commitment unless something surprising happened.
And on Jan 26th, Shaw said he's staying:

He shouldn't have copied and pasted but there's nothing wrong with putting the name out there, even if the name is paywalled. For instance, if Rivals broke a new commit story and paywalled it, I don't think anyone on here would have an issue with creating a Hello post of non-CTRL+V material.

The only people who bitch about paywalled info being posted are the suckers who actually pay for it.
