Speaking of basketball, Todd committing was no real surprise

Big men committing to UM and Howard makes complete sense. Juwan Howard was one of the all time great big men in UM basketball history. I see many centers and power forwards committing to Howard and UM because that is the strength of Howard. He has so much to offer from teaching fundamentals to diversifying the offensive game to rebounding.

Howard was much more developed than Webber who relied more on his athleticism than Howard who was more of a technician.

The real challenge going forward for Howard will be obtaining perimeter players in the recruiting game. I expect Howard and UM to have plenty of highly touted recruits at 6'9 or above. Todd actually reminds me a little of Howard but much more athletic. Howard 3.0. Not necessarily better but much high ceiling coming from high school. Too bad is only here for a short period.

Great pickup.

He sure is, but by your logic coaches who played a position only get recruits at that position, which is why Avery Johnson didn’t last at Alabama—that 5 guard lineup couldn’t rebound.

"... only here for a short period."

Your assumption.  And though you might be correct, it's also possible he sticks around for longer.  Each recruit (and their family) has their own priorities regarding athletic goals,  educational goals, long-term goals, being a "student - athlete", etc.

While I fully understand why many 5* recruits go the one-and-done route and I will wish Todd well if he goes pro after a season, let's not be hasty to make such an assumption.

More hasty? OK, how's this:

Let's assume that once Todd gets here, he makes a mistake at a pivotal point during a big game. That way, some snotty little jackass can send him a kicking & screaming email that accuses Todd of wasting his tuition money on a scholarship, suggests he give up that game completely, and then leaves his phone number at the bottom.

You know - just to save time.

I'm looking forward to the OP penning a "now THIS was a complete surprise" thread when Howard lands a five star guard.

It's like muppets, can't have one without the other.

Coach Howard better start experimenting with huge lineups because it sounds like we won’t have any guards or wings after the next couple years. It’s better we find out now if the 5-bigs lineup will actually work, and if not we need a new coach (preferably smaller like 6’5).

I have a confession. After my first post about Bell, I found the emotional reaction funny. I then decided to do another post about misleading stats to see if I could get another emotional reaction. I did. (Not a surprise). I then thought lets do another milder post and see the reaction.

It's so twitter mob like. Like an echo chamber. I promise no more posts for awhile but thanks for participating. Classic confirmation bias on my part. Make sure you downvote to complete my test.

We get these stupid posts people that are likely trolls, and I think michymich may be one of them.  They seem to be crowding the board more than ever, both as posters and commenters.    I am keeping track of people I identify this way by mentioning their name in my post.  I am not the first one to say attention to this problem is urgently needed, and I don't think a blocking command is enough, because of the way they dominate discussion.
