Something "silent" happening today - per TomVH twitter
"There's something happening today, but you probably won't hear about it for awhile since it's "silent"…."
Im assuming this is a silent commitment? Or something of the silent but deadly variety? Any speculation?
Discuss.
Welcome to the blog. There might not be a reason, but it could just be their personal preference to announce at a specific date and just want the coaches to know before hand.
Maybe Pike is silently trying to sway Marshall away from Georgia since it has been said Pike has been down there and talks to Marshall?
Pike makes the most sense to me. Granted, he'll want to make it public when he's sure...but think of him as a great nation involved in diplomatic overtures. This would be the "feeling out" stage, transitioning to theagreement in principle. He has the most to lose from actually taking the plunge, so it makes sense for him to proceed cautiously.
A second plausible possibility is Ross cutting a deal- If Bolden tries to sign up before he (Ross) has made a decision, tell him no, he'll take the spot. A right of first refusal, if you will.
Other than that, I'm not sure why anyone would really be overly excited about this. Any decision now is non-binding, so a recruit who isn't confident enough in his decision to be open about it is unreliable at best. Anyone remember Kris Frost?
sorry guys....that something silent was me....I had a lot of beans...silent but violent.
You can blame it on DogVH.
I tooted silently, but I'm letting it fester under the sheets before I give the fiancée a whiff.
I would have to lean on Sheldon Day maybe? I was reading on mgorecruit that Day had offers from 12 schools for their spring games but he still ended up going to AA. He might have to be a definite possibility since he supposedly isn't commiting until after his senior season. Day could have told Hoke and the staff that he's going there but not publicly yet.
Either way this great to see that more kids are leaning back to the right place! Go Blue!
...but deadly.
That "something" could easily involve multiple players. The silence may be due to some of the players involved wanting to enjoy the recruiting process a bit more. Just thinking this is beyond a single commitment...
Silent commits are the equivalent of a girl telling you "just the tip".
Just the tip leads to some pretty fun times
Why would any school take a silent commitment? This is incredibly super-duper non-binding. Guess schools just want a toehold on these guys.
PS: Sorry about the air biscuit - that old guy healthy breakfast cereal isn't sitting well with me. I'll light a match.
To be fair, from the coaches' perspective, the commitment wouldn't be silent. The recruit would have told them. The only difference between a silent and a verbal is that the public doesn't know. As far as the coach is concerned, it would be a verbal commitment.
No reason not to take them. They may not be binding, but neither is a verbal.
It is Ross reserving his spot following the RJS commitment last night.
Gardner was granted a medical redshirt.
yes plz?
i thought we weren't going to find out about this until right before his senior year?
or wild speculation?
The Beaver says it is a defensive player. So there's that.
like you can be my girlfriend , but dont tell anyone
Where's the Dayton Daily when you need 'em?
Sheldon Day has moved from their second tier to the first tier since friday.
Sam Webb will have a "gut feeling" about someone.
My guess is Richardson. As many have mentioned Pike will want his commit known to other high profile prospects, Diamond is still traveling on his own buck as is Day. Thompson is a perceived UM lean, but for some reason I get the impression he has another dream school outside of UM that he wants a offer from. Leaves us with Ross or Richardson, contrary to others opinion, I don't think Ross feels pressure to commit. He knows UM wants him, as do other schools, UM would never risk alienating themselves by rubbing a kid a wrong way by placing pressure on him in April, seems to go against everything we've been hearing about Hoke and Co. Leaves us with Richardson, teammate of RJS, but in TR's case he stays silent to enjoy the thrills of being an uncommitted prospect, especially when official visits kick in.
If I said I was a silent commitment to her....
If someone does not want a "commitment" out, who cares. What does it matter to everyone on here. We all know it does not matter till February anyway...
Could it be a player that visited another campus this weekend and realized that school didn't compete with Michigan so he decided to committ?
My guess would that its either James Ross or Sheldon Day
As others have said, we'll find out when Sam starts talking about his gut-feel... when I hear him say that, I always wonder if he has a straight face while sitting in the studio...

just from the RJS commit though I doubt the staff would be heavy about it. They may only want 3 not 4.

Looking forward to - Hello: Silent Commit post with a picture of a question mark and random speculation
Or maybe Pike, Marshall, Ross, Thompson, Day, Diamond, and Wormley all silent commits as of today! This is (was?) the best day ever!
