My understanding is he was hurt during warm-ups. So it seems like he was playing hurt.

Per the twitters, he aggravated an old injury during pregame warmups.

maybe that's why denard's production was down.

Still, he wasn't the reason for our offense being inept.

But our Rimington Trophy winning center losing mobility due to an ankle injury definietly didn't help. UFR will be the final judge, but my money is on some missed blocks by Molk thanks to this.

It seemed to me that anyone that got within his reach was a dead man. Anyone outside of his reach was trouble. His mobility was hindered this whole game. He played through pain and injury to seal a Michigan victory and secured his place as a BCS game champion.

Not having our best and most important guy on the line certainly affected the offense. Without Molkasaurus, you can't get the running game going. If you can't get that going, you can't do anything else. There was a huge difference when Molk went out for the season in the before Molk and after Molk ... I think he is one key to our offense functioning properly.

it was evident he couldn't go laterally. I suspect he played that game on one ankle. Those who stay.

The entire Oline just seemed to be off tonight, and Molk was definitely moving much more slowly and not explosive. He didnt get much push in the center.

Va Tech's defense is really fast and athletic. Our offense looked horrible tonight, but who cares? We won!

Tough guy. After watching the first series he forced his way into the game and did OK. He will be missed.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:49 AM ^
Molk definitely seemed to be able to hold off his man, though. While I agree that the O-line seemed to give up quite a bit, I wouldn't put it all on Molk. I wouldn't put much of it on Molk really, but I might've missed a lot.

...but if his man lined up play side of him he couldn't cut him off. A lot of the running game has been built on Molk's ability to reach block, something he couldn't do today.

i dont buy it....he looked 100% on the second series...something else seems to be the reason...

Maybe he had a boo boo.
January 4th, 2012 at 1:18 AM ^
He was definitely not 100%. His lateral movement was significantly affected.
January 4th, 2012 at 12:56 AM ^
I think Molk played as well as you could with a bum ankle/foot. I really think VaTech exploited his lack of lateral quickness (because of the injury) and went inside blitz crazy and they were very successful with it in getting to Denard and stopping the run.
