Short Mike McCray Update
Just so this didn't get lost in the other thread, but the fact is that Mike has already made his decision, it just hasn't gone public yet. He isn't holding an "announcement" either as he's silently committing to the school he's choosing. No fanfare apparently. He also told me that it should go public "in a day or two".
Or how about now
I think the cat is out of the bag, meow!
OMG He's going to Kentucky!!!!!!11!
I'm pretty sure he meant Northwestern.
Probably Arizona. I hear there is a football revival going on there.
No, that's not a euphamism.
Mike did not specify to me what school he is choosing, just so we're clear on that.
You didnt want know so that you wouldnt have to lie to us...You're one hell of a guy Aqua
Very interesting. And he's still visiting? This guy is tough to figure out, I'm completely stumped.
I see you have your sarcasm meter turned way up! And I like it!
Aside from that we're the only BiG school with a current BCS championship and BiG mbb regular season champs in a year that 5 BiG schools finished the regular season ranked in the top 15, we have awesome upcoming more committ news after the recruiting February to end all Februarys?
I'm still running around pantless.
You should really preface your posts with Aqua.
i.e., Aqua: Short Mike McCray Update
I'd be able to focus quicker after the F5.
kthnx
So how much did he like his Tennessee visit is the question?
He cancelled his Tennessee visit last weekend so you can (probably) cross them off the list.
That was Big Mike McCray who cancelled that visit.
A. Old enough.
Q. Old enough to what?
A. Old enough... to party.
I'd be suprised if I'm the first one to point out the resemblence with McLovin.
I don't know if people were saying they didn't want him, as much as some people were saying they'd prefer Gedeon to McCray. I prefer a ribeye to a New York, it doesn't mean I'm not happy to eat a New York steak when it's served to me.
I'm totes excited for him to come here if he is all in. I'm still scared that Ohio will shoot him a schollie offer at the 11th hour and he'll jump on it. I think he's going to be a very good and versatile player, hopefully for us. His (potential) commitment does scare the hell out of me to a point and I'm trying not to get too excited about it until he signs his name on his LOI.
Hoke has totally bought into this "recruits come in pairs" meme and has instructed McCray to wait until the other half of this pairing is ready to commit.
Ace, let me be clear: If McCray's "Hello" post isn't pre-written, I will not bevel my guilt for the span of thirty-six months.
His big other offers are Tennessee, Nebraska, Oklahoma, with a little Ole Miss, South Carolina, and WVU sprinkled in for good measure. Not off the wall offer list, but very solid.
Is he not visiting A2 tomorrow? I'm not sure if that is a good sign or not. Especially if he has his mind made up and has yet to visit.
At least, I can't think of a scenario where it isn't.
Where in the hell is BKFinest?
four linebackers.
I think everyone has gotten convinced from various sources that he's the lesser of the 4 LB recruits (Levenberry, O'Daniel, Gedeon, McCray). I don't know when we became OSU-Urban trolls, but I'll take the #44 overall player any day of the year
I think everyone is banking on bringing in Levenberry and O'Daniel. While I would love that Mccray looks like a great talent. A solid verble is better than being the" top team" on someones list with no committment any day! We should never think a top 50 talent is just ok!
But his Rivals rank is only one piece of info, and it's early too.
Based on his film and his offer list, I'd put him behind the other LBs we're in on, even though Rivals might disagree with me. And you know what, at this time last year Joe Bolden was our lowest rated LB, so a Rivals rating in March isn't set in stone.
But if you want to rely so heavily on Rivals rankings, he's still the third highest ranked of those four, ahead of only Gedeon, who is still in the top-250.
I wasn't trying to say he is or isn't necessarily the #44 player because I haven't seen his film and if I saw it I probably couldn't tell you where he should be ranked anyway, but the general feeling I've gotten from reading the board over the past 1-2 weeks is that we prefer the other 3 to him
I get it, but I would prefer the other three to him.
Now, that's not exactly an indictment on McCray, because those are three also very highly sought after LBs, and if you're ranking them, someone would have to be fourth.
Part of the reason I don't love love him is that I think he'll end up as a WDE, and I think we're all set there for a while, especially with Taco in this class. Now, if McCray can continue to play LB at a high level at his size, then he could end up as an absolute monster too, so you never know.
But if we took three LBs and it was any three from that group of four, I'd be thrilled, no doubt about that. In fact, based on our need, a trio of Levenberry, McCray and Gedeon would be about perfect.
He's going to play for the Akron state golden bobcats.
We should all welcome the commit! Just as we should all top talent. I mean here is how I see it. If there are 22 kids coming into this class and we get all of them in the top 250 (wishfu but not likely if you look at all teams 4 stars for last year alonel) I think that is over the top lights out. Or better yet here are some numbers. 250 recruits. 25 teams in the mix (hypothetical) you average out that each team gets 10, we already have eleven in the top 200. So yeah I will jump for joy if McCray commits. Why? Well as it stands right now rivals has us with the following haul: Bosch (60), Butt (96), Charlton (183), Dawson (199), Fox (46), Kugler (54), Lewis (167), Morris (16), Shallman (160), Thomas (77), LTT (109). This is Michigansanity baby!!! We are already a top 5 recruiting class.....again!!! Stay positive by saying positive things and not this player is better than that player cause I dont know about anyone else but I am not a recruiting analyst, only a logical one.
