Semi-OT/CC: Pitt says no on Schiano, targeting Narduzzi instead

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

Apparently Pitt won't even interview Greg Schiano, much to the chagrin of Pitt fans, who were by and large on board with the idea of hiring him. (see the comments section)

Clearly we did not say enough nice things about "Schiano to Pitt" to appease the football gods. On the plus side, Pitt is considering Pat Narduzzi as their top candidate...

SAY NICE THINGS ABOUT THIS DAMMIT

Tom Herman leaving OSU, Pat Narduzzi (potentially) leaving MSU. If we get Harbaugh, this could be like the South Park where Cartman gets an amusement park and has it taken away at the very end.

You are up there.

Honestly, I think it's better for Narduzzi to try for the Pitt job. The losses to Oregon and OSU, showed the weaknesses in the Spartans defense. If more teams figure this out suddenly Narduzzi isn't the hot commodity he is now.

I don't really think it dims his star that much. Oregon and OSU have really elite athletes and can really run the ball. There aren't many teams that can stop either of them.

Narduzzi's scheme is designed to be very high-risk, leaving DBs to fend for themselves in order to crowd the box. There isn't a team in the Big East that could exploit that against MSU's defense. In 3 seasons of good recruiting, no Big East team could do that to a Narduzzi coached Pitt team either.

but I am hearing Rivals (TheWolverine board) is pretty crazy right now.  A long time poster that is spot on with all his previous breaking news saying Harbaugh to Michigan is 100% he thinks.  I know I know,Another "source", but everyone seems to be vouching that this poster is legit and has been historically dead-on.

talking but from what I understand Narduzzi doesn't interview well and there is a cloud over him regarding a few things.  PEDs is one thing I've heard but I don't give that too much credence because it's never been proven or even investigated.  The  thing you hear is that he's just a lacky to Dantonio who is really calling the shots.   I have to say when i hear Dantonio talk, and I'm a pretty good judge of this if I do say so myself, he doesn't sound like a smart guy.  He sounds like a guy who is possibley a great visceral (hate based) motivator but in terms of Xs and Os even on the D side, I just don't think he's the source of the overachievment in east landfill.

the one constant they've had is coaching up mostly lower rated HS kids and that would seem to be something you credit to the DC.

I have to think this would be a big blow to Sparty and I have to think that if Narduzzi doesn't end up at Pitt his window is going to be closer to closing than opening.

Either way if we get Harbaugh not worried. I'd love to see him beat them at their best, no excuses and have very uncomfortable handshakes with Mr. Dantonio for years to come.

We have a very strong chance of landing Jim Harbaugh as our next head football coach and Pat Narduzzi might ditch Michigan State to take the Pitt job?

Oh man, the only thing that could make this holiday any better is if my wife puts a bottle of 30 y.o. single malt scotch in my stocking.

for MSU and OSU to be down their top coordinators next year. I hope our new coach can offset the loss of some "star power" that the B1G would be losing with these guys though. God knows this conference can't afford to bring in worse coaching.
