Scout w/ Will Campbell's Mom

Submitted by Anonymous Coward (not verified) on
"“Michigan is definitely still on William’s list,” she said. “He was upset about some personal issues and said what he said. But now he has calmed down. Michigan is definitely still on his list."" Campbell was later asked by Scout if Michigan was on his list and he said "Yeah, they are."

maybe he did get pissed off about the whole "student directory" and all of the fans going apeshit and prying into his personal life... if that is the case, i dont blame him if he was being a smart ass back to stir people up... too many people/fans go way overboard in this recruiting thing... it has almost become like stalking... "get a life" applies to those who take this overboard... anyway, it is fun to follow it...but if the kid decides to go elsewhere then good luck to him. It will be ok either way.

This is almost turing into the Brett Favre rollercoster of wolverine nation. Glad to hear, but would just be pleased if everyone waited until he decides at the game instead of the daily reports.

If he wasn't trying to generate interest in his announcement, playing with the media, or just joking around like some on here had hoped, then this is bad news. No?

I honestly think that he has already made a decision. What his mother said makes about as much sense as any hyphothesis that has been given. When you were a kid and you got upset the first thing you wanted to do was get away like a Bob Segar song. However, I do agree with you. Let him be. He is an eighteen year old impressionable kid.

Sam Webb said there was a family issue that upset Will, but he's feeling better now. I just hope stupid fans stay off Facebook or whatever, leave him alone, and don't turn him off toward Michigan. I looked up his name on that U-M student list, and I saw they had his street address and home phone number. I wonder if any idiots called?

If she's right, I hope that Campbell makes the right decision for himself rather than letting anger or whatever personal issues cloud his judgement.

If he's making the decision for himself, why on earth would he ignore "personal issues"? If he was angry about something about Michigan, isn't it valid for that to shape his opinion?

Into creepy mode. I would hope no one is looking up this kids street address and phone #. Everybody, deep breath. I must say that there is now hype to watch the AAA game. Watching you guys fret is entertainment enough! Does that mean I am not as much of a fan becuase I don't lose sleep over the recruits? Just trying to do some intrapersonal UofM fandom reflection.

to the fact that we now know how to get his address and phone number. And pretty much if we could put a hit counter on any recruits name that comes up on the MGoBoard or Diary, it would hit like eleventy million within 4 minutes. I just find it amusing how serious we take this recruiting thing. Sometimes it gets a little wierd. If we were doing this with cheer squad recruits, most of us would be considered stalkers and would most likely have the FBI monitoring this site.

could be that mom is playing along too. what we know is that mom wants him to go to Michigan but in the end we dont know so lets just enjoy the ride as the big ten continues to rack up losses in bowl games and the basketball team finished an impressive pre conference season.

From what he said about his decommitment, he wanted to 'get away from the area'. If he was, say, pissed off at his family or something (he is a teenager) he might say that. Remember, kids say the darnedest things when they're all angsty and mad at their parents.

If your like me you're thinking "oh no, Will Campbell's not coming to Michigan!" and "why do I care so much about where a teenager plays football?" Here, then, is something I think we can all enjoy. I apologize if this has already been posted on this site...If you like laughing at Charlie Weiss, it's really worth reading. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-14-greenstein-charlie-…
