I like what I saw of him on

I like what I saw of him on defense in the video. Not much there to judge as a TE. Good motor, nose for the ball, wraps up well. I'd say he just needs time to get bigger.

Why is pro-style football

Why is pro-style football considered outdated everywhere except the NFL? There's no one way to win football games. It's players and execution.

No. His You Raise Me Up

No. His You Raise Me Up banquet moment was his last maneuver. After that he had to win the bowl game to have a chance. He failed miserably.

Jim Harbaugh is not only the last guy ND fans want at Michigan. OSU and MSU fans feel the same way. They all love them some Rich Rodriguez the way I loved John Cooper and John L. Smith.

I don't blame the uncertain

I don't blame the uncertain coaching situation for the loss of Zettel. I blame the lack of coaching quality the past three years.

I agree Fhshockey, but 3

I agree Fhshockey, but 3 years of terrible defense and coaching uncertainty had to play a role in the decision for a kid whose whole family were Michigan fans.

Three years has been enough.

Three years has been enough.

Two thumbs up, Nate.

Two thumbs up, Nate.

Could be RichRod's soft

Could be RichRod's soft landing spot. He could go back to dominating the Big East!

I don't. I like to speak the

I don't. I like to speak the truth and watch the little girls play follow the leader.

Give him an extension...if

Give him an extension...if you want to perpetuate the problems. May as well elevate Tony Gibson to DC to make the horror complete.

I hope Zettel doesn't care

I hope Zettel doesn't care about winning or playing on a competent defense.

His dad played for Michigan

His dad played for Michigan not MSU.

Talking him out of it is the

Talking him out of it is the best thing he can do for his kid. You don't want quitting to be a pattern in life. Tate also doesn't have Ryan Mallett type talent where he can transfer and start just about anywhere.

Carvin Johnson was the player

Carvin Johnson was the player I was most curious/anxious to see coming in, and it sounds like he won't disappoint. What got me was that his team lost the state championship game like 34-0, and Carvin was still the game MVP. Wow!

Smith sounds like a guy who

Smith sounds like a guy who needs more angry e-mails.

I was really ticked a couple

I was really ticked a couple of years ago when Blair White from MSU was carving up our secondary. A WALK-ON? But it turns out he was a good player. You just never know. Don't forget that Rich Rod was a walk-on, so I imagine he's not afraid to start one.

I just hope he's not the next

I just hope he's not the next Carlos Brown - often injured.

Hate to see anyone leave, but

Hate to see anyone leave, but it's a fairly deep position with similar looking players. Sam Webb keeps saying how great the talent coming out of Ohio next year is and that OSU will not have many scholarships to offer. It would be nice to have more schollys available to fill out the roster with players at positions of greater need.

I've heard many an athlete

I've heard many an athlete say, "I'd rather be lucky than good."  Take a victory any way you can get it.

Seems too coincidental that

Seems too coincidental that the players with blue helmets were also wearing red jerseys.

If Elliott were to commit,

If Elliott were to commit, would there be no room for Cyrus Hobbi or Chris Bryant? They both sounded like more highly sought after recruits. There is something to be said, however, for the kid's enthusiasm. You want kids who really want to be Wolverines.

Sam Webb wrote a recent

Hyman Roth:

Sam Webb wrote a recent article in the Detroit News about Grant. It's still between OSU, MSU, and Michigan. He said U-M will definitely get a visit.

Really? Turner was supposedly

Really? Turner was supposedly one of the best players in talent-rich Ohio, and he can't win a spot on perhaps the worst defense in the history of U-M football two years in a row. You blame that on the head coach?

One thing I think we can

One thing I think we can never overlook is the fact that Rich Rodriguez was a walk-on. He just can't see giving a job to an underachieving 4-5 star guy when a less heralded player is busting his ass to win a job. He was shaped by his own experience as a player.

I don't see Nick Saban as a

I don't see Nick Saban as a guy who is easy on his players. Having grown up with Bo, I'd rather have a team full of hard-ass overachievers who wins 8-9 games per year than a bunch of egotistical star players who get placated and win 10-12 games a year and show up on police blotters. But that's just me. I'm an old-school hard-ass myself.

Poor Dantonio. He must be

Poor Dantonio. He must be tired of hearing about Mike Barwis:

Didn't expect that with his

Didn't expect that with his mom being such a Wolverine fan. Probably hurt by negative recruiting and continued bullcrap media reports about Rich at West Virginia.

I'm extremely nervous about

I'm extremely nervous about Zettel. The longer it goes, the less confident I feel. I hope he isn't waiting to see a winning season because I still think the team is a year away. I'm also not satisfied that Brandon is as supportive of coach Rodriguez as he has been publicly. I don't know that Rich keeps his job if the team wins 5-6 games, and then recruiting would become chaotic.

The third Saturday in

The third Saturday in November, 1969. I was 9 yrs. old. My parents left me alone in the house. I was flipping through the channels on the new Zenith color television. I saw two teams playing football - one had really cool helmets. I watched with interest as some kid named Garvie Craw scored a touchdown against what was supposed to be an unbeatable team coached by some fat man in a short sleeve shirt. It changed my life.

TOB: I liked the first

TOB: I liked the first installment of your M v.s. MSU recruiting piece "The Battle of Michigan." Looking forward to the rest of it. Nice work.

Nervous about Zettel.

Nervous about Zettel. Lifelong Michigan fan is needed to help turn this thing around.

The only thing I fear is that

The only thing I fear is that he'll want to stay closer to home - USF.

I thought he was pretty much

I thought he was pretty much a lock for us.

"Any and all" is overstating

"Any and all" is overstating it. There are some who pin all of the blame on Rodriguez while ignoring what he inherited. Posts that deal in facts and numbers are usually a response to that ilk.

If only Tressel could could

If only Tressel could could be next.

What ever became of O.J.'s

What ever became of O.J.'s Heisman Trophy. Seems like nearly decapitating your ex-wife would be grounds for confiscation.

It's grammar.

It's grammar.

Chicago was more productive

Chicago was more productive for UM in the past - like the Bo years. I think Notre Dame has always been strong there. Northwestern and Illinois weren't very good when Bo was coaching either. Glad to see RR making inroads there and Ohio and Florida. I think if he can last another two seasons he'll get this thing turned around. The team is so young right now and has holes at some positions.

I've known a couple of

I've known a couple of Lebanese men in my life. The women in both of their families were breathtakingly beautiful. That is all.

Whether Rodriguez said these

Whether Rodriguez said these things or not, Morgan's play did drop off from the previous season. Playing two seasons for Rich Rod did not hurt  Brandon Graham at all. Then again, BG is a hard working, team guy who doesn't fault others for his failures.

Dick LaBeau and the Stillers

Dick LaBeau and the Stillers

Crosby. Putin doesn't whine,

Crosby. Putin doesn't whine, and he would have participated in the final handshake.

I used to hate when Marcus

I used to hate when Marcus came on because he comes off as such a know-it-all. I don't mind him so much anymore. Seems like a good guy. I used to like Mark-from-Novi, but now he bothers me. The day after NSD he's calling in to ask about some junior cornerback from Timbuktu. I think he's trying to either impress or stump Sam. I turn off the sound when that guy comes on to do his Bob Ufer Meechigan stuff. Give it a rest, man. Phil from Detroit is stupid, but good for a laugh. Mark was great; DeFran came off as an asshole.

What Contradiction?

Doesn't seem like there's any contradiction to me.

Dorsey - just to piss of Drew

Dorsey - just to piss of Drew Sharp, Mike Rosenburg, and Dave Birkett.

Didn't Dantonio take a kid

Didn't Dantonio take a kid with a burglary conviction? Doesn't he still have players on the roster who have actual police records?

My money is on Dantonio. The

My money is on Dantonio. The other schools don't really need to run M down. Listen to the comments from Spartan players, Spartan recruits, and high school coaches who feed MSU. It's all very acrimonious.

Garvie Craw scored the first

Garvie Craw scored the first Michigan touchdown I ever witnessed.

Things have sure changed over

Things have sure changed over the years. Never thought I'd see the day when Michigan would lose a player to Rutgers.
