Scattering ashes at Michigan
Found this in an old magazine...
When old Bennie died in 1990, Ron Kramer scattered his ashes on all the athletic fields where he had starred as an outstanding athlete and won nine letters at Michigan in the middle 1920s.
"I told him I would do it," Kramer said. "A little on the football field, the baseball field and track, and a little around the rest of the campus. Bennie is everywhere at Michigan."
Have any of you done this or plan on doing it?
I will want most scattered around the Big House. I will want a little bit spread around the outside of my Great-Great Uncle's named Couzens Hall as well.
I mean no offense to anyone but I think a mere fan wanting their ashes scattered at Michigan Stadium is a little creepy.
And which way do you prefer have ashes spread? Or are you gonna be buried?
I'll be spread in Big House somehow, along with other specific locations on my creepy list!!

And I think burying yourself in a plush coffin at an overpriced cemetery is odd. But it's your death and body so that's your choice. Point is when you get into customs and traditions, they are all a little peculiar from an outsiders perspective.
Obligatory
+1 as this is the first thing I thought of too
Well said

No way to I want to wake up in a coffin after my death is greatly exaggerated. Problem will be convincing my kids to come back and police my bones for the final internment.
I'm planning on being cannibalized, myself. That way I'm doing some good for some poor hungry person after I die as well.
my final shit being spread over OSU's practice field. I would say the Horseshoe, but that would be unfair to visiting teams.
LoL +1. Taking that one step further, the final shit should be at the horseshoe when ohio plays little brother and it should be used to DOT THE I. Then you can shit on both of our rivals.
Negged for pompous use of "little brother." Though we share a name, we are not related to those fuckers in East Lansing.
Mike Hart didn't think it was pompous
Hahaha, I've never seen that. Thanks for the laugh. Not pompous at all, more like accurate!
while you are alive.
I think I remember reading about them finding someone's ashes on the field at Auburn after fans rushed the field. Seems a bit creepy to do it like that to me
But all ways of scattering ashes are kinda creepy
I like what Randy Savage said/did with his ashes. He had a favorite dog named Hercules and when it passed he put the ashes in his favorite spot, then told his brother "when its my time to go, sprinkle my ashes on the same tree. If its good enough for Hercules, its good enough for me"
YT comments suggest that the man at 1:53 is scattering ashes
Just love CFB!! That video is more about the pageantry of CFB to me and why I love it! I think Michigan should do some home and homes with schools within driving distance. Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, and Missouri would all be fun!
West Virginia always do that? Not the ashes but the song after game all fans stay, looks like after game...
Yes.
We love our traditions, but other programs have some good ones as well.
Went to a game there a few years ago with a client who was an alumn. Great atmosphere (beer sales help for sure) but yea I had a great time. They beat Kansas and Charlie Weis that day also so it was even better watching that fucker lose... Again!
Yep I plan on having mine scattered via helicopter the night before the Ohio state game. Creepy? Possibly but to each their own
I find it fairly gross that people's charred corpse ashes are spread in places where people can come into contact with it. Specifically, sweaty people. WTF no one wants to touch your dead body people.
Ain't nothing in thoise ashes that wasn't part of a supernova at one point, except some hydrogen and helium atoms. Same could be said for sweaty dude or dudette.
This is getting weird.
New meaning to 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
Sky burial for me.
But not in the middle of the stadium.
Like, this sky burial?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_burial
Met a guy once who got to attend one of these in Tibet and described it in detail, and it just sounds totally amazing/harrowing/disturbing.
Yes, like that, only Sichuan would be more likely than Tibet given the security situation. There is the issue of getting my body there, if I don't die over there. It's not happening here in NY because I cannot get anyone who fishes out of Montauk to promise to put me in their chum buckets.
Admittedly, I don't frequent many other sports blogs - save for the occasional Red Wings reading - but I find it hard to believe many other sports blog posts would have me learning about sky burial's this fine morning. Just one more reason that MGoBlog is such a great place.

can we get buried in the end zone?
I'll donate my body to science fiction.

I think that's pretty weird if you are just a fan. personally if you are that into Michigan football I feel kind of bad for you. but hey all burials or scattering of ashes is a bit weird.
Are you just going to rot in your home?
Why can't people have this kind of love for Michigan sports without you judging them? The great Bobby Brown one said "It's My Prerogative." Sheesh.
Well let me just quote the late, great Colonel Sanders, who said, "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."
In all seriousness, I don't think I would want my ashes scattered, but I definitely don't want them in an urn somewhere or to be buried. There's a kit that turns your ashes into a tree, I'll probably go with something like that.
Because you have almost 5,000 points on a sports bolg in under 2 years time, meaning you are devoting a lot of your living time to Michigan sports as well.
As others have mentioned, there really isn't an uncreapy way to deal with dead body. I find it weird to have my body put into a cushy box in a fancy suit with makeup on 6 ft under the ground. I'm more of a dust to dust type guy. Suprised this thread got as judgemental as it did so quick.
I've always wanted to have my ashes scattered from the top of half dome at yosemite. That way my remainds can whistle around the place on earth I find the most beuatiful and my ashes can fertilize the redwoods.
My will instructs that my ashes will be spread at Michigan and Trumbull.
One place would definitely have to be the back alley that connected Spot's, Pizza Bob's and Rod's. Spent many late nights out there with the crews of all 3.
Good times man, good times.
And maybe a little under the third buckeye tree on the 9th fairway at the Blue course. That was our favorite tailgating site. Always thought it was weird there were buckeye trees on a UM course.
Wife's uncle. North end zone after a game.
who had their ashes scattered at Comiskey Park; which had been torn down and is now a parking lot next to US Cellular Field.
that I want to be buried under the 50 yard line. Imagine the level of donation for that to happen lol
if DB were still around, it would be the <insert name> burial plot at Michigan Stadium, Presented by Pfizer or something.
my hopes died (no pun intended) when he "resigned". No Ortega Taco Shells & Pennzoil Motor Oil DanWillHor burial site for me ($1,000,000 deposit & renewal every two years until the momenr of death at which the body will remain a minimum of two years after which continued until the next "donor" arrives, of course). I'll take that trade haha.
