Slow day on the board...about to open a bottle of Apothic Dark, a red blend. Tried Apothic Crush last weekend and my wife and I loved it but store is out today. A couple of glasses and I won't be so cranky

We're out here on the porch as the sun sets and we're trying to enjoy the Tigers game as the kids burn off a little more energy. The two home runs given up by Verlander do not help in that regard honestly. I am really starting to wonder if we have indeed seen the best years of JV already. All the same, I am enjoying the Coca-Cola that I chilled before this game began.

after surviving the 1st inning pounding, giving up no more runs thru the 6th.   Wilson,  Lowe, and KRod  then pitched the 7thm 8th, and 9th as Detroit came from behind and won 5-3.

I celebrated with one of thse:

Not bad, would probably be a good 'session' ale--- it's pretty light bodied and weighs in at 4.5% ABV.

Scherzer's signing is going to hurt the Nats in the long run. The money they spent on him is what's going to prevent them from having the cash to re-sign Harper.

The Tigers don't get Upton without not paying for Scherzer, and got Zimmermann for a good price.

The Tigers basically traded Scherzer for Zimmermann and Upton. No brainier.

And there is still a lot left to do. But at least my house doesn't look like the Beverly Hillbillies anymore. Also, I forgot to put sunblock on so I'm sporting a pretty good sunburn (My username could be nomelanin). Looking forward to hitting the hay, even though the wife is gone for a few days. Physical exhaustion sleep is the best sleep.

Rode 30 miles at a nice clip on my bike, fixed the chainsaw and took apart most of an old cherry tree that is slowly dying of something. Now I'm enjoying a Fat Barrel Oregon pinot with a lamb stew prepared by my better half.

Starting with an Elijah Craig 12 year Manhattan, then moving to a sampler of Founders beers. Spent the day playing with the kids while my lazy ass watched a crew lay mulch, weed and edge my yard. I'm a lazy bastard and proud of it!

I've had several Bells Two Hearted throughout the day (golf, etc). It's my go to when necessary. Now I'm settling in with a nice glass of Pinot and hoping the Tigers get it together. Go Blue!!

The city of Washington is having its way with the city of Brotherly Love:  3-1 Caps over Flyers in beginning of third; Nats 7-1 over Phillies end of seventh.
