Recruiting update: (MBB) Harold Baruti to Utah (FB) Lorenz finally CB'd DPJ to UM

Submitted by Wee-Bey Brice on

Saw some posters asking about Baruti yesterday. Looks like he's headed to Utah. Not sure if Beilein will continue to pursue 16' prospects.

I can confirm the @Runnin_Utes have added Harold Baruti to their 2016 class, (6'6" & 6'11" wingspan. #UteNation

In football related news, Lorenz & Clint Brewster put in crystal balls for DPJ to Michigan today. Expect for a flood of them to follow as they usually do when Lorenz puts in a crystal ball.

.@clintbrew247 and I have put in @247Sports #CrystalBall choices for Donovan Peoples-Jones to #Michigan: https://t.co/pE4QjSr0MF

The crystal ball thing is stupid now. As soon as Lorenze, Brewster, etc CB a prospect, there are 5 or so 'insider' who CB too, despite having no unique or independent info. Saying that, an aqua man CB is music to my ears for DPJ

DPJ is thinking about life after football and has been shadowing workers at the UofM Health System. If you have ever had the opportinuty to work or tour the medical facilities it is an incredible campus to see. If this is important to him it would be a tough feature to match. Harbaugh really seems to be recruiting and building character kids. http://www.maizenbrew.com/2016/5/20/11716738/michigan-recruiting-friday… Blueberries.

The proliferation of copycat ballz has made the percentages useless, if they were ever useful to begin with. But I still think individual ballz, such as the Lorenz example you gave, are helpful. So many of the recruiting reporters be all vague and cryptic with their information; "things are heating up for X team with prospect 1," or "it's looking pretty good with prospect 2 for Y team." I like how the crystal ballz get specific reporters to come out and clearly say, "okay, based on everything I currently know, I believe so-and-so prospect will attend such-and-such university."

Hey DPJ is there any order to your top 7??

No

Are you planning on announcing at your All-American game?

No

Oh ok...when are you going to make your decision you think?

Idk

A lot of people think you are a Michigan lean what do you think about that?

EDIT: No one remembers Brandon Brown texting Malik McDowell?

Exciting news about DPJ. He's probably as close as you get in recruiting to a 'must get'. Losing him would be painful.

A WR super class of DPJ, collins, and higgins would be nice after last year's haul.

Then there is Hoke's recruiting of WR: what was he thinking?

3 guys and not much else. We were pretty fortunate the big 3 stayed healthy last year because the guys behind them did not look good. We started a lower ranked true freshman at slot. This year true freshman are going to be all over the WR depth chart.

WR recruiting was bad under Hoke and if you want to blame QB play and system as scaring off good WR recruits those were his fault too.

I guess the point is that Hoke was not running this program well. And water is wet.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit Hoke was not the guy for the job...clearly in over his head.  Four years of very little player development, but he did do a decent job recruiting the majority of this team as it stands today.

We have a CFP caliber team....one where the vast majority of the starters are Hoke recruited players and that Harbaugh has cultivated into NFL draft picks.  He is gettting everybit of talent out of these players because well that's just Harbaugh and what he does...everywhere he has been....period.

The future is even brighter as the talent level continues to increase.  Can't wait to see it play out, can't wait to see more 4 and 5 star WR and QB development.  He has only just started!

DPJ...come on down!

Its a question of quality and quantity. In 2011 we took 0 WRs, 2012 we took 2 (Darboh and Chesson). In 2013 we took 3, but they were three of the lowest rated recruits in the class (dukes, york, and jones).

To be fair, we did get a lot of production out of TE. But Harbaugh took as many WRs in his first class as Hoke did in a 3 year span.

You know that these kids, these WR's they pay attention to what kind of offense you run and who the QB will likely be when they get there. The WR recruiting troubles was a mix of that. For all the love we have for Denard, that offense wasn't one that top WRs were impressed with or wanted to be a part of and the big question marks regarding who would be his successor made it tough for any commit with options. Having 5* kids lined up at QB makes the discussion very, very different.

Yup. WR has got to be one of the positions most reliant upon the rest of the team so they can get production. Gotta have the right system and a decent QB or you're just a guy running around the sidelines a lot. Conversey, guards will always have people to block, linebackers people to tackle, etc. Having Harbaugh and a growing army of great, young QBs is a big selling point

Chesson wasn't a good WR until Harbaugh got to Michigan.  He was a fast runner and good blocker but wasn't a good receiver.  Took a lot of coaching to get him to that point and I think Fisch deserves a ton of credit for the WR development.
