Recruiting: Cole (Positive Vibes)

Submitted by Paly33 on
With recruiting being in flux this year because of Hoke's job status, it was great to see some good news from our old Brandon Brown on The Fort:

Basically he exchanged some text messages with Brian today and that he fully plans on enrolling early in January.

My feeling is that keeping Cole, Malzone, Weber, & Newsome should be top priority. I think having that happen should be looked at as a positive outcome given the state of our program this year.

I realize the quote from Marshall reads funny but he's speaking theoretically in regards to what his interest in Michigan would be if a change took place. Nothing more, but positive either way. Also, on Cole, he has been a near no-threat to commit despite his scheduled visits elsewhere. We've been reporting before Purdue and Nebraska were even scheduled.

I don't think attrition will be as much as other people think. There's four guys who have given vibes about decommiting Taylor, Roseboro, Kirkland, and Clark. I feel pretty solid about keeping Malzone, Runyan, David, Newsome, Cole, and Kinnel. That leaves Weber who I think we keep but maybe not.

With an absolute home run coaching hire the recruiting will turn just as quickly as it did when the losses started piling up.  If, when Harbaugh is hired I would guess some of the decommits will want to return and there will be some surprises as well in those who are interested.

I know there was a recruiting update earlier today that focused on lesser caliber players, but what happens if any of them commit and a new coach does not want them?

He'll instantly be a Michigan fan favorite...whether he pans out or not.

That would be pretty cool, makes you smile thinking about it honestly. You can blame any guy who decommits, no ill feelings.

But if Cole stays, damn man, that would be pretty cool.

If Harbaugh does get hired, we may finally see a couple Michigan hats selected at the high school all-star games. I just hope one of the hats remaining on the table is Ohio.

Good luck to you in the future. I wonder if any of them thought about what might happen before they officially decommited. For example if a player decommits then Jim Harbaugh is the new coach can the decommited player recommit? Can/should the new coach say "no thanks" to them? I would suggest they stay committed until there is a coaching change before any decision was made.

there is no commitment on either party's side until an "Loi" is signed. Basically, if a new coach comes in before national signing day, he may or may not honor those verbal commitments depending upon his style of offense/ defense, and whether those specific recruits are going to benefit whatever transition might take place in the "New" coaches system.
