Ravens - Chiefs Playoff Open Thread

Didn't see a thread for this.

It's into the start of the 2nd quarter and shaping up to be a barn burner.

I’ve been trying to call run/pass by watching the Chiefs’ RT. Getting pretty good at it.

It’s not as obvious as the Lions’ season opener…but it’s still there. Dude has learned that he just isn’t going to get called for shenanigans.

Geoff Schwartz commented on OLs tipping plays a couple of weeks ago. His argument, from experience, was basically: Yes, sometimes, but all you need is an occasional change-up to keep defenders honest, and it doesn't matter, because they have to play it honest just in case.

Sort of the equivalent of the occasional QB pull to keep the edge honest.

Is it weird that I strangely feel sort of bad for T. Swift and the vitriol she's received? Since the beginning of her attending her boyfriend's games, has she even publicly commented on her attendance or anything Chiefs-related? Unless I'm missing something, all she's done has attended Kelce's games and cheered for her guy in a suite. Not sure she can control the network's camera guys zooming in every 2-3 minutes.

Although I'm sure she'll compose an entire album about it soon.

I’ll say this much - I hope we import SOMEBODY from the Ravens’ offensive staff. They look A LOT like our best case scenario for next year (i.e., an offense built around a dual-threat QB paired with an elite OL and TE, and smaller WRs whose games are predicated on being speedy and slippery. They even have a speed-based RB named Edwards!).

Greg Roman would be an acceptable hire, though he's a weird case where he really normalized a lot of great concepts in the NFL but then his offenses tend to grind down as they get figured out and he (allegedly, per commentators) has trouble being flexible and adjusting.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked if Harbaugh hired him in LA.

To be honest, though, I feel like Sherrone has absorbed the key lessons from the Ravens staff. I don't consider it a concidence that our run concepts levelled up when he became the OL coach, and that's true even if that was with pointers brought across the river from Matt Weiss.

Edit: And I think Roman is at best ok; I think I heard at some point that he's not really a recruiter? He has real pluses but also some minuses.

So far this game is showing that only 1 of these teams has a QB who can handle the moment.

Let's see if Lamar can change that here in the 3rd quarter

10 min left in the 3rd, and it looks like the Swifts have already won.  They're moving the ball pretty easily, and the Ravens are struggling with everything

Just logged in to say that Tony Romo knows something about fielding snaps.  As the placeholder, he famously fumbled the snap of a FG attempt that prevented the Cowboys from winning the 2006 wildcard game against the Seahawks.

How stupid do you have to be to get the taunting penalty? It is the single dumbest thing you can do. You know they’re looking for it. Have some class. Try to be just a little bit like Barry Sanders.

Flowers is a goat.  And not the good kind.  This game is cursed for the Ravens.  They just lost...  I don't think they can turn around from this.
