No worries.  Just go into your post and correct the honest mistake. While I havent created a thread in quite some time I'm SURE that the lightening fast development team at HUEL has taken care of the obvious mistake on their part by now when they forgot to build in editing for OPs.  I mean the omission of editing functionality in thread creation was noticed, pointed out and earmarked for correction by the MGoStaff within hours of the new HUEL site launch so surely by now this has been fixed.

Oh wait.....never mind.

Can somebody explain to me why "Posbangs" are still a thing around here when the points dont work?  I mean isn't that the whole "point" of a posbang......to generate points?

Anyways if you want a laugh go the sticky thread and look at all the broken crap they were suppose to fix shortly after launch that still doesnt work.  I do enjoy however not knowing where I'll find the sidebar today.  Sometimes it's upper left and sometimes it's lower right.

It's quite exciting not knowing where they're hiding it.

So you mean to tell me that a developer set an unrealistic timeline, delayed launch, then released a partially finished product, lied about fixing everything asap, and instead moved onto the next project??? If only such a thing had ever happened before maybe someone would've seen it coming!!!!!

Sorry Brian, you got duped, happens to tons of clients.

Not to thread hijack, but the staff written content has been kind of lacking since the OSU game. I get that real life has intervened in all their lives simultaneously, and I'm sure managing the new website has been more challenging than anyone expected. But, now I visit the site often to check out the Diary and the Forum, less so for the headline content.

PSU's spring practices ended this past weekend (Spring Game was Saturday).

I'd guess Stevens - who had injury issues this spring and only has one more year of eligibility - got a message from Franklin at the end of the spring that he didn't like.

Sean Clifford it would be then.  Cincinnati Saint X kid.  Saw him a few times live when I lived in Cincinnati.  Only a few passes in his PSU career.  Not as good a runner as Stevens, but a better arm.

I'm not really surprised by this - or overly concerned either, although you always wish to have depth at QB.

I was hoping to get your perspective.  That's interesting, because most of this board would be absolutely losing their minds if a presumed starting QB transferred without an obvious incoming starter.  For example Speight leaving was mitigated (and caused by) Patterson coming in.  If he'd left on his own, I think it would have been a shit storm.

This seems pretty bad for Penn State, franklinly.

Part of my "I'm not overly concerned" is "it feels like an 8-4 type year anyway."

I do tend to tune out on CFB during the off-season.  But my view coming out of January was that there were 2 viable starting QBs on the roster.  It would be a Stevens/Clifford competition in the spring and potentially August as well, and I'd trust/hope the coaches picked the right one.

Today's news does imply "the coaches are strongly favoring Clifford."  I don't blame players who transfer in those sort of situations.  Their clock is ticking.

On a slight tangent ---- recalling the Michigan/PSU game last year, Franklin was screwing around with his QBs in the 2nd Half.  He made five QB changes made in the 2nd half!!!!  I was wondering even then if Stevens lost some confidence in his coach that day.  Stevens' 1st pass that day was an ugly pick-6.  But those things will happen, QBs make mistakes, and the game was lost at that point anyway.  I don't think it was fair to Stevens to pull him for an already hurt McSorley after one bad pass.

If I can add as the brother of one PSU alum, and friend and HS classmates with several more, Nittany Fan is way more typically of Penn State people than the idiot fans and the asshole administrators who get the headlines. This is probably true of most programs.

Seems like a lot of attrition for PSU this offseason.

I do not read one sentence of PSU reporting. What are the rumors over there?

You left out the reason why.  It's because everybody at Michigan was jealous of JoePA and his blemish free program that did things, "the right way".

Not joking, that's what they were saying at the time over on Penn Live and the Blackshoes whatever site not specifically directed at us, but directed at all of college football outside of slap happy valley.

So doing a little research (who wants to work today)...

He thought about leaving previously, but came back.  His father in no uncertain terms said if he wasn't the starter this year, he was gone.  He was out for spring practice.  My guess is he/his dad wanted an assurance from Frames that he was the starter, and didn't get it.

This leaves Clifford, a 3/4 star from the 2017 class; Levis, a 3 star from the 2018 class, as the chief competitors.  Two incoming 2019 QBs in 3/4 star Taquon Roberson and 3/4 star Michael Johnson Jr.

I watched some of the PSU spring game and honestly thought all of their QBs were walk-ons due to injury.  I'll have to check it out again.

Not that it means everything, but I went to a couple clinics this winter/spring where some PSU coaches were saying good things about Stevens. They said they expected him to have a pretty big year, and it was unprompted, so it's not like someone said, "So how do you think Tommy Stevens is going to do this year?" Neither one mentioned Clifford or anyone else (except McSorley, who's obviously gone).

So maybe this is a surprise to the coaches, too.

Well, that's interesting.

Ironically, I thought PSU would be a good candidate on the transfer market for a guy like Hurts or Martell. Instead, they stood pat with Stevens and lost him anyway.

Perhaps another post-spring transfer will wind up being the solution.

Holy crap, this kid and his dad were talking Heisman a few days ago (in a "it's been my dream since I was a kid" sense).  This is a quick turn.  Frames must have said nah-ah, you will not be named the starter.

Dad lays it out here pretty clearly: "Tommy has so much invested in this year, and we know that this is his last shot. If he’s not Penn State’s quarterback, he’s going to be somebody’s quarterback,” Stevens’ father, Tom, told the CDT. “Everyone already knows, if he’s not playing at Penn State this year, he’s probably going to leave. I don’t think that’s much news to anybody. He wants to be a starter. ... If it’s not Tommy, then I think Sean would do a great job, and we would wish Penn State the best of luck.”

This is smart even if he ends up not transferring. He has graduated so he can transfer and be eligible immediately in the fall. If he doesn't think he is going to win the job or doesn't like the feedback from the coaches on his place on the depth chart, he will have already have been recruited, evaluated his options, and ready to find another home.

Like we saw with Speight transferring, Brandon Wimbush leaving ND, and Tate Martell leaving OSU, I think this is going to become a lot more commonplace for QBs, especially ones that can grad transfer.
