PSR: Ohio State #21

Were we supposed to know what "PSR" was before coming into this thread?

When I was a kid. My parents could never figure out why I couldn't calm down. Maybe it's the full cup of sugar in every pitcher, mom...

I, for one, find it pretty relevant and certainly more interesting than the 'where's my httv' threads.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:26 AM ^
Apparently he wasn't the only one who wasn't familiar with PSR, so your snark is un-warranted and rather douchey.

I definitely know what that is.

Glad it's not just me........I was certainly lost by this thread.
August 14th, 2012 at 8:27 AM ^
I've spent half my morning searching for this. Just exactly why I love this place, all the news, all the time!
Here is a bonus for those who clicked. Short article on PSU and accreditation. I don't see any point in giving it a thread.

that stated:
"It is critical to emphasize that Middle States does not issue a warning unless the commission believes that an institution has the capacity to make appropriate improvements within a reasonable period and then sustain itself to stay in compliance," Blannie Bowen, vice provost for academic affairs, said in a press release. "This certainly is true for Penn State. We're confident that our monitoring report and the site visit will confirm this to the commission."
I would guess that not much will happen, which is why I didn't consider it thread-worthy. As far as what they can do, I really don't know.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:45 AM ^
remember the small line when you applied to use your degree at most degree requiring institutions, graduate schools, board certifications or exams, "proof of credits or degree from an accredited institution"? this is the place that does the accreditation.
from the article and msche.org:
If the Commission is not satisfied with Penn State’s report, it can choose to place the university on probation, which could force Penn State to issue a show-cause for why it should not lose its accreditation.
According to the US Department of Education, accreditation ensures that education meets acceptable levels of quality. Without being accredited, Penn State’s degrees lose significant value. Enrollment would likely plummet, crushing Penn State's main source of revenue.

I was wondering what that big word meant.
August 14th, 2012 at 12:36 PM ^
no probs, anytime, um made me edumacated.
August 14th, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
Am I the only one who pictured that scene in Animal House with Kevin Bacon screaming "Remain calm! everything is under control" as I read that statement?
Given how badly f*cked up their administration is per the Freeh Report - departments were operating with no oversight from the central administration, the athletics department basically exempted its employees from any training or orientation requirements, and so on - Penn State's got a lot of work to do to get their house in order.

So today before work, I went into the kitchen to find something quick to grab for lunch. We didn't really have anything. All I could manage to find was a bag of pizza rolls, but there was only like 4 left. I really hate when people leave the bag with only 4 left, it really is pointless. Anyways, I woke up a little late so I didn't have time to make myself a PBJ to take so now I'm either going to not eat or buy something to eat. Not sure yet where I might go to get lunch. I was also 3 minutes late today at work, because they closed off the road I travel on and made me take a detour that took me a good 5 miles out of my way. So anyways thats how my day started hope everyone elses day is going well.

ME TOO!!!!!
Damn is it a small world or what?
August 14th, 2012 at 8:32 AM ^
This is the kind of stuff you only find out on MGOBLOG. Someone should start a traffic thread that way if anyone is ironically traveling the same roads or is going to the same place they would know. I know that at least 50% of us check this blog as soon as we get up so traffic updates would help out alot. lol

First, this is an alot:
Second, I feel your pain on the lunch man. I mean, not for today, but I've definitely had my days where the whole "prepare lunch before leaving for work" thing doesn't go as planned.
Third, if there's one close enough to you, go to Chic-Fil-A and get a spicy chicken sandwich. You'll be glad you did. Unless you have digestive issues, in which case the spicyness might make the afternoon "interesting."
Fourth, this discussion is much more interesting than the original OP. I consider this a successful threadjack.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:42 AM ^
No Chic-Fil-A around my, but I did manage to score lunch for the entire plant. I convinced them to buy Mancino's pizza for everyone since today is my birthday. I have now successfully threadjacked and lunchjacked at work. My Tuesday has been rather successful. lol
August 14th, 2012 at 10:53 AM ^
not sure if you get credit for the threadjack.
there has to be a real thread to jack before you can threadjack.
anybody feel this was a real thread?
August 14th, 2012 at 11:47 AM ^
Good point. Truthfully the reason why I wrote what I did was because I myself didn't feel like it was a real thread. I am still shocked it is on the front page and also shocked that it hasn't been taken down due to negative votes.
August 14th, 2012 at 9:44 AM ^
Since we're now talking about food; what should I do? My wife is meeting friends for dinner, so dinner will be just for myself and the dog.
Option 1:
Mixed salad, followed by leftover homemade BBQ brisket (probably the best one I've made thus far, deliciously moist, did not oversmoke it this time, the Texas method of seasoning with salt and pepper only was excellent).
Option 2:
My standby, cheap Chinese take-out, typically General Tsao's or Orange Chicken with an order of fried rice.
My dog votes for the brisket...
August 14th, 2012 at 9:54 AM ^
Please, for the sake of everyone on this board, don't make yourself a salad.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:05 AM ^
You don't win friends with salad.
EDIT: Proof:
August 14th, 2012 at 9:58 AM ^
I think the choice is obvious and you just wanted to take the opportunity to brag about your smoking skills. Nobody cares about your stinking smoking skills! You can make things right by sending me your leftover brisket.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:03 AM ^
My dog would eat me if I sent away the brisket. And yes, I'm bragging a little; like I told my wife Sunday, it was the best one I've made. 8 pounder pre-trim, and about 10 hours at 250 degrees.
No this is a serious question though! I've been thinking about this for the last 24 hours! Fat people always wonder about food.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:07 AM ^
Hmm, it seems like your dog is the alpha of your pack. Cesar Milan would not be happy with that. In fact, he would probably recommend that you just send the leftover brisket to me to teach the dog a lesson. Show him who's boss.
August 14th, 2012 at 10:58 AM ^
quiet on the smoking skills comments, ok?
some of us have to get selected for random urine screening. dont need anything on mgoblog influencing that.
August 14th, 2012 at 9:49 AM ^
I guess. Now I wll never forget that PSR means. . . Public Service Reporting?
August 14th, 2012 at 3:03 PM ^
In this company, PSR means "Primary Service Representative", and essentially, they are the people with the authority to turn on and shut down the huge customers with the epic loads. We tend to call them, "Damnit, why don't you answer your phone?" on this side of the business though, so imagine someone seeing "PSR" thinking he would pose questions about an article to which no one would reply.

Does anyone else like to start their work day by drinking coffee until they have to shit? Yeah, me neither.
August 14th, 2012 at 11:36 AM ^
Hey I've got a swell idea and want to see what you guys think about it.
Seems to me like there are a LOT of people here on the ol' blog who live in different parts of Michigan or even the entire COUNTRY (like me here in Cleveland). And if we started a thread each day telling everybody what the weather was like where we lived then everybody could find out what the the weather was like...EVEN IN PLACES THEY DON'T LIVE!!!!! We could call it "Today's weather - open thread" and then people could update it as the weather changed in their next of the woods (raining here in Cleveland today - betcha didnt know that). And, to prevent people who want to be surprised by the weather and not tipped off in advance as to what's going on, we could change the title to "Today's weather - open thread (wih spoilers) so people didnt get their surprise ruined by othes accidently blabbing about the weather!
