I thought this deserved its own thread. Michigan is sooo lucky to have this man.

I love reading Mattison's comments to the press. I've actually learned a few things about the game from him, i.e. "Everything on defense starts with the delivery of a blow."

Could be a successful business.

Are we talking about prostitution, selling drugs, or defense? Or are they all the same thing?

Any of those 3 styles of blow delivery management will make you a rich man. You combine all 3, and you've got the U of Miami in its prime.

Someone needs to amalgamate all three variations of blow delivery....and when all three are achieved simultaneously, guess what, you just got "Mattisoned."

I literally laughed out loud for a good 60 seconds. Bravo, sir. Comment of the night.

I am not ashamed to admit that article made me tear up a little bit.

Can we extend his contract asap?
November 12th, 2011 at 10:11 PM ^
how long is his contract?/ whatever it is add 30 years to it just in case he is a zombie or something.
November 13th, 2011 at 12:03 AM ^

Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.

I was thinking the same thing during the game. A couple longer drives by our offense would of killed any chance for illini and we could of came out with hutout

People hear "would've" as "would of" and then type it as such. It's "would've".
Sorry,
That Guy

The fact that this is the exact same defense from last year -- same players, and plays at such a level, speaks volumes to Mattison and his staff. The teaching aspect is back!

Its great that we have a bowl game to give our guys extra practice with Mattison and the other coaches. Could help huge for the bowl and for next year.

Speechless.
November 12th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
At least, this year, we're crying for different reasons than seasons past. I can't say it enough, I actually like watching us on D this year, last year it was almost unbearable.
November 12th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
from 110th to 22nd in total D. The 3rd&1 defense is freakin insane. Someone stats-savvy needs to find out opposing teams success against us on 3rd/4th&1. I swear it's less than 50%. Maybe less than 25%. What Mattison and company have done in a summer is nothing short of genius. Everyone deserves a hefty pay raise.
November 12th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
Ive noticed the 3rd & 1 success as well. I'd almost rather face 3rd & 1 than 3rd & 5. lol
November 12th, 2011 at 10:53 PM ^
But I would give mad props to anyone that could turn this into a Happy Mattison pic with Greg Mattison's face in the background.

Dominating everything.

to give back some of their previous salary? GERG and Gibson need to pay restitution for theft.

That was a great piece. When you go from having the tenth-worst defense in Division I to entering yesterday 28th nationally, you'll not only take that immense turnaround, but you credit both the coach and the kids that he coaches. Enormous character and strength all around. Brady made a great grab there when looking for a DC.
