Prater to USC (Not Illinois!!!)
Prater to USC. UM was in this for about a week a couple months back, but nothing recently, so not a "loss" for UM. But great to see him go out of state and not accept Zook's offer.... considering how amazing a recruiter Zook is and all.
EDIT: Not computer savy... but it's headlined on Scout.com at http://usc.scout.com/2/894527.html

You can just copy and paste the url on its own line in your post if you don't want to make the hyperlink. It will automagically become a link when you post.

Thanks for the post. That is great news.

Meh. I'd rather see the Big Ten get stronger than USC reel in yet another big time recruit.

I totally agree with you. Michigan, Big Ten, All other schools, USC.

There's very few elite recruits in the Midwest compared to the South and West Coast. Always a bummer when a Southern or Left Coast team snatches one of our own. Hopefully Henderson stays in Minny if he doesn't come here.

It'd be nice to see midwest talent stay in the Big 11. Good luck Kyle!

I'm in the opposite camp, only because frankly, I don't give a shit about the rest of the Big 10. Not interested in the national perception of the conference. I care about Michigan. If Prater isn't going to come here, let him go far, far away, IMO.

i agree with this completely

Sure, but if the rest of the conference were to regress to the level of the GLIAC or something, it *would* affect Michigan.

Man, I'll never understand this mindset. To me, you're basically saying:
I prefer mid-tier Big Ten schools to have mediocre talent. I enjoy watching Michigan play against that week after week, leading up to a climactic shredding by elite talent in Pasadena.

Boy, USC is on fire. That's two top 5 receivers (Scout #1 and #2 WR) they landed, and they have the top tight end in the nation. Talk about firepower; Carrol is the king when it comes to recruiting.

All he has to do is parade out the song girls and show pictures contrasting the winters in the midwest vs. socal.

I personally think this is good news so we don't have to face him every year.
September 2nd, 2009 at 6:11 PM ^
I wouldn't mind having to face him every year now.

It's incredible how USC can convince 5-star guys to go there and probably sit on the bench for two years.

Tell that to Matt Barkley.
Carroll has never been a "seniors have earned the right to play" a la JoePa. He lets the kids battle it out every day and whomever comes out on top plays, be it freshman or walk on junior.
I think a lot of kids that talented have enough confidence and competitive spirit to go out there and compete against the incumbent five star studs. I would even waqer a lot of those incoming freshman are so confident they think they will win that battle.
Pete has put together a culture of competition I don't think I've ever seen anywhere else.

But still, going to USC means you need to compete with the best and risk getting lost in the shuffle.

However, as shown with Cassel, you don't need to be a USC starter to make the NFL. That's gotta ease recruits minds a bit about not seeing the field for as many years if you go to USC.
