Pickin' and Grinnin' NFL Games + Open Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon to you all.   Rocking out with the family and thinking of the NFL playoff games later today.  I think they set up to be the best games of the weekend. Both home teams are favored.

@ Dallas      5        Green Bay   4:40 pm   Fox

@KC             1         Pittsburgh    8:20 pm   NBC

I pick up on a lot of distaste for Aaron Rogers, curious why.  I am a Lions fan, but maybe it's the yooper in me but I have always liked the Pack if the Lions weren't in the playoffs - a sick 50+ yr legacy of failure.   And man, that KC v. Pitt game could be a dandy.

So the question is this:  Who do you pick, with or without the points, and why?

Enjoy the day,

XM

Brady is our boy and may win another SuperBowl and add to his championships, but damn if Aaron Rodgers isn't the best I've seen out there.

Fun fact: there are four teams that are losing draft picks in 2017 due to various illegalities: New England, Seattle, Kansas City and the Giants; all of which made the playoffs.

The moral of the story, as Jesse "The Body" Ventura would say, is "win if you can, lose if you must, but ALWAYS cheat!"

It drives me nuts that he totally ripped off the whole "spooning food/feed me" gesture from Denard, and all of a sudden the talking heads in sports media talk about his "signature move"... He's a prick. I had the 1st overall pick in my dynasty football draft last year and traded it simply because I couldn't bring myself to draft his arrogant, (alleged) woman beating ass.

Barry Sanders >>>>>>> Emmit Smith. Barry retired at the top of his game after 10 years. If he would have played 2-3 more years, the career rushing record would have been out of reach for Smith. Barry averaged 0.8 yards per carry more than Smith, and Smith ran behind the best OL in NFL history. Barry ran behind "meh"

there are no other running backs with minute after minute of highights of  3, 4, 5 guys grabbing at them in an area the size of a phone booth and the running back comes out the other side, heading toward the end zone.

When I was a young man I was convinced he could teleport. Imagine if he was selected by the Cowboys and played behind an OL where all 5 went to the HOF.

Retired after 12 years with 21,000 yards.

Fuck Aaron Rodgers. Had to mute the TV because I hate Joe Buck. The way this game is going it may be nap time soon.

It's crazy to me that the Packers fans desperately want to keep Joe Buck and Troy Aikman out of the booth for all Packers game. Joe Buck talks about Aaron Rodgers as if the man invented the forward pass. Rodgers is a great player, but it really gets old hearing them slobber over him game after game while ignoring multiple other aspects of the game, and sometimes even neglecting to mention important details (announcing injuries, explaining penalties, etc).

For those of you not sure what I'm referencing, there was a petition with 25,000+ signatures formed by Packers fan which stated: “On behalf of the Green Bay Packers fans across the world, we would like action taken to prohibit them from giving their constant negative input about our team. We are sick of the biased announcing always coming from them.”

Cowboys can't perform under the bright lights of the postseason. Haven't been good in the playoffs since Emmet Smith etc.

and bedraggled.   if they don't get it going real soon, this game is over at half time.  or as dandy don meredith used to sing, 'turn out the lights, the p-a-a-r-rty's over!'
