Peppers wins B1G Freshman of the Year; Peppers & Lewis named First Team All-B1G

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

This tone-deaf conference is announcing HALF of their all-conference teams and award winners today.

Peppers named the B1G Thompson-Randel El Freshman of the Year.

Peppers and Lewis named first team all-B1G.

The armpunt catchist is named DB of the year.

That anyone wants to bestowe on him, that guy is a player. On the other hand Lewis has made a living on the field by holding and interfering so often that big10 refs simply don't call it on him anymore. I mean the guy is the biggest fraud in FBS. All he does is cheat and hope to not get caught. He usually gets 1 call a game tho he commits fouls on almost every play. He has no actual talent except he is a very talented cheater.

Of course they're waste time and make people wait.

Lord knows no one watches this shit any other day it's on.

The price I apparently have to pay to watch this for a time is that I must listen to DiNardo's attempts at being insightful.

However, it was nice to see both Lewis and Peppers recgonized on the defensive backs list, as they should have been. Not surprised by Desomnd King beating everyone out in that group though.

I follow Michigan pretty darn closely and I like all star teams and the like. I do get BTN but I'm definitely not watching this. Guess that goes to show what I think of the suckfest that is BTN.

I've no quarrel with this outcome (Peppers x2 and Lewis).  They were truly deserving, and nobody else on our D or special teams seemed lights out.

Congratulations to both!

(Also, a shout-out to the B1G East.  Only two All-B1G West representatives on the entire first defensive team.)

Would Peppers be first team All-Big Ten if not for his role on offense or special teams? My guess is no, because its about name recognition and he gets his name out there with his other roles. To be honest I would not have him slotted as first team, but definitely 2nd or honorable mention (caveat: I only watch UM so I have no idea about other teams). Glasgow/Wormley deserved 2nd team, did they miss that?

Carl Nassib named B1G Defensive Player of the Year, when he's not even the top player at his position according to the B1G awards. Bosa won DL of the year.

lol what the hell?

I think everyone knows Bosa is a better player, or seems to be regarded as such, but didn't put up the numbers of Nassib. In only ten games to get 15.5 sacks is outstanding and if a UM player ever gets that many I would lose my shit if he wasn't recognized in some capacity.

Peppers had a really good year as safety/db but not first team good. Hopefully we don't have to see Bosa again, he's by far the best defensive player I saw on the field this year, although when Lewis was at his best he was close.

He wasn't unable to tackle.. it's called sportmanship. He didn't want to injure others or hurt their feelings by stopping them from getting a first down, thus the committee views the tackle statistic under a different light. I wonder if he'll get the "good sport" award for that too?

... for the link.  Though, I'm a bit confused, because it lists Wormley merely as "Honorable Mention," while you and others are noting that he received "Third Team" honors.

EDIT (PROBLEM SOLVED):  I see that there are separate pages for "Coach's Selections" and "Media Selections."  For example, Wormley was voted "Third Team" by the coaches, whereas Kenny Allen was voted "Third Team" in the media poll.
