Peppers seems like a competitive person. He can come back and compete for a heisman and national title and get his degree and still go to the nfl just a year later. I don't think he will but it's not crazy. Remember when Florida's basketball team all came back in 2007.

Ohio State. By his own stated standards to be a legend at Michigan, you have to beat Ohio State. He hasn't earned his Buckeye badge yet. In other words. He can't talk about Ohio state, until he beats Ohio State.

Peppers please come back ! Michigan is worth so much more than money. You have the chance to become one of the all time legends, money can't buy that. People are so foolish to think everything is about money. My brother went to UofM to play a sport when he had full rides at other big ten schools. I admire that. If peppers comes back he will be a don't runner for the Heisman and lead Michigan to the national championship.

Interesting comment, for sure. I can tell you one thing for certain, there will never be another experience like playing football for Michigan. Heck, just being in college is a fleeting experience that most miss after it's gone. Money is important, especially for a kid who want to provide for his family. I think it's going to be hard for him to walk away from his team, from Michigan knowing the NFL will always be there. People who say he's 100% gone are being silly. Peppers actually has TWO more season should he want them. If I were betting I'd bet he leaves, but don't underestimate the love of this stage in his life, nor overestimate the next. One is almost over, but there is a page left to be turned, while one has yet to come. His mom can make it one more year, I sure. Follow your heart Pepp! Follow your heart!

He isn't coming back and he probably shouldn't.....

Except it could be the difference between being a Desmond or a Braylon Edwards. There is a ton of both monetary and non-monetary value in being seen and loves as one of the Elites of Michigan.

would love to have hime back for selfish reasons, but he and his mom have been through a lot. From an unselfish perspective I'd  like to see him get paid.

He is a freak athlete and can do a lot on the field, and I think he is potentially like Tyronne Mattheiu in terms of upside (probably a better returner / playmaker), but a bit weaker in pass coverage.

Love the guy, but IMO there are a few players on our defense this year that are going to the draft that actually project better as NFL prospects simply because they have mastered a single position, and the NFL is very much about specialization.  I'm not saying these guys will get drafted before Pep, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them have an easier transition to the league.

J. Lewis

Charlton

Wormley

Butt

Again, not saying these guys are better than Peppers (although an argument can be made that Lewis should be a top 10 pick) but since they have a defined position they may just fit in better right away.

If Jabrill stays it won't be mainly for football reasons but for personal reasons.  You only do college once and when you leave it's over forever.  I would think that Jourdan Lewis and Jake Butt would encourage him to stay.  I would think Deshawn Watson would have done the same in their talks over this weekend.  But it probably comes down to 1) his desire to grow personally through another year of college, and the unfinished business of Michigan football vs. 2) his desire to lift his mother from poverty.  Either way, we can be grateful to have had such an example on our team and to have enjoyed him these three years.  I sure hope he stays, but I fully understand if he doesn't.

Peppers all but said he was gone. He spoke and was spoken to in a way that sounds like he's gone. I think he just doesn't want to distract from the bowl game. Oh, and in the CBS interview he said he'd give it to Watson because (jokingly) "They'll be giving it to Jackson next year anyway". He said it in a way that didn't allude to him even being there next year.

If he has to come back to improve his draft stock, does that not call into question that he's a Heisman finalist to begin with?

Anyway, i highly doubt it. Aside from his mom began contacting agents, i can't think of many sure first rounders who returned to college in recent years. I don't see much he could improve at either, obviously coverage against top WRs, but he wasn't given that opportunity much. If he's gonna be safety in the NFL, again he wasn't given that opportunity. He also appeared bored in many games. Seems like he'd just be wasting his time other than trying to win a CFB championship and with how fucked the refs are...i wouldn't even consider it

Matt Barkley is the first person to come to mind, as a sure 1st round pick who decided to return. He got burned, too, since he was being talked about as a potential number 1 overall draft pick.

Peppers doesn't have to come back to improve his draft stock. I just think these considerations are driven more often by team goals than individual goals. He didn't seem bored to me at all in games...it seemed like he was having fun (for instance, the back flips come to mind). You can tell he enjoys the shared pursuit with this team...sure he places value in it.

I honestly think had he not gotten injured before, he'd have a chance of returning. Getting injured and sitting out his freshman year changed his perspective from what I read about it. he may not risk another year in college because he knows what it's like for one wrong move to take you off the field.

Peppers needs to come back. He's got good talent, but he hasn't got a consensus position. He should come back and play corner. Yeah, someone will say he's not the right size or shape or some other reason, but good corners get paid a lot of money in the NFL. Safeties make quite a bit less and 3-4 outside linebackers get paid too, but I don't think he's Von miller or clay Matthews. Alternatively he should play WR. They make a lot and the dropoff is much less steep.

In the halftime interview peppers said something like how growing up how hopefully his football skill would one day help get his mom to a house in the hills and that is what playing out for him. I'm happy for him and He gone

While I am optimistic that UM will be a solid team next season, 2016 was the season stacked with seniors and incredible talent on the D line. This was the year to make a run for a championship and beat OSU. Next year, beating OSU seems rather distant since they will have another year of experience for all their young players. I would love to see Peppers back to UM next season to take on a greater leadership role and keep us in the hunt for a championship, but I don't think anyone would blame the kid for taking millions$ and choosing not to risk a career ending injury.

With smart investing in other money making ventures, one year in the NFL can provide a salary to really get ahead in life.

We're talking Michigan fans here vs those with Michigan degree, IMO. This post makes it pretty easy to tell grad vs fan. Any grad I would trust understands that even for Jabrill, getting the degree greatly expands his life wealth. Running to the NFL now might make him some more doe out the gate. But, a degree from M for a guy with the smarts Jabrill has would be a life time of wealth. He may make 50 mil from NFL. He could make Hundreds of millions getting his degree and capitalising on the Michigan network for the rest of his life, even after the pro checks subside. Not too mention he could hurt his legacy leaving early, And if you don't think that matters, why didn't he go to some other school for 2 yrs then bounce. He's aware, he chose M for a reason. My money is on a return for at least enough time to get his degree and pad his legacy.

I think we need to join together as wolverine nation and start a campaign for him to stay

Campaign title "Unfinished Business"

+ Big Ten Title 2017!
+ Beat OSU
+ National Championship
+ Heisman

I love Jabrill like we all do!!!! I am blue Thru n Thru.

But to be great you have to accomplish at least too two above. That would cement his legacy in my personal opinion.

If I had a guess, getting his degree may really mean something to both him and his mom, and I think if he decides to return it is just because he really loves to play in college.

Smart money is on going pro, but he just really seems to enjoy college.

My co-worker and I debate this all the time. His argument is that the NFL doesn't know what position he will play, and I argue that he is clearly a SS or a FS on a team that basically has two FS. I suspect he's asked to do a lot of things for Michigan that he won't be asked to do in the NFL. Due to that, he hasn't been able to show off his true skills as a safety. I think he's a top 5 talent that could slip into the 15-20 range based solely on the position debate. I think that'll be enough for him to go, and I don't blame him one single bit.

This is silly. There isn't a single benefit from him returning. He's a lock as a top 10 pick. The best thing Peppers can do for Michigan in the short and long term is go be the crown jewel of what should be a historic Michigan draft class.

Michigan isn't closing in April. He can always get his degree. What he needs to do is maximize his earning potential. An insurance policy won't pay him next year. Bigger picture, I don't see how people can bemoan Ohio State's recruiting class and want Peppers to return. If you want super classes, you have to show that you're going to be putting elite prospects in the league after three years.

If he asked me for advice this is what I'd say, First, Hello, I'm not sure what circumstances led us to meet, but I'm glad they did. How was New York? The first time I was there I attended the Conan O'Brien show. I got hugged by Andy Richter. True story. Second, it's good and wise that you're seeking the advice of someone older. Too few people in your generation realize how much their elders have to offer. Seems to have to do with those smartphones. I mean, they're definitely useful, but really, using them while driving? Third, what was the question again?
