Being signed by the Patriots has to be an unnerving feeling. On one hand they're the world champs and you have a good chance to go to and win the Super Bowl. On the other hand, you can get cut any minute. They seem to sign and release players more than any other team.

Not surprising but sad none-the-less.

He deserved better.  Poor dude went through two HCs, two position switches, three OCs and got the living shit beat out of him thanks to our piss-poor pass blocking.  I feel bad for him.

Jeremy Gallon was drafted in the 7th round by the Patriots last year and was cut, went onto win a championship with a team in the FXFL and then picked up a spot on the Raiders active roster.

Yeah, it's Oakland but he's on the same team as Woodson. Hope DG can go the Gallon route.

The Patriots are in a numbers crunch right now. They needed to get under 90 players and have a huge need for corners and LB's so they had to do something. Without picking any corners in the draft (which was very questionable because there were some good DB's on the board at a few places where they picked), not resigning Revis or Browner, and releasing Arrington (not that big of a loss IMHO) cause a huge void in the Patriots defensive backfield. I hate the move as I thought he could perform very well in the Patriot system if given a shot but it's not as hard to understand when you look at it from a numbers standpoint. He's got the much needed size that the Patriots lack at WR but WR is not a huge need for the Pats. He'll land on his feet somewhere but till then, good luck to Devin and I will be a fan of his whereever he goes!

represents all that is great about the University of Michigan and its football program.  I hope he lands somewhere and makes $50 million.

He was a total beast in The Game, 2013.

Damnit, that didn't last long. He has his degree, he's popular, and he has a big future in front of him. He's got more going for him than 99% of recent college grads. He'll be alright.

It's not over yet! Stop talking as if his career is over because he got cut by the team that signed him as an UDFA but had lots of other needs than WR. I hope he has a long and satisfying career after football. And I also, still, hope that career doesn't start until 2025.

If Brady Hoke maybe would've recruited and developed a QB so Devin could play WR for three years. He showed real promise at wide out in 2012. It's sad because transitioning back to QB basically cost him 2.5 years of experience at a position he probably could've been productive at both at Michigan and in the league.

He was "so not a WR" that he led all Michigan receivers through the first four games in 2012 in catches, yards, and touchdowns. He finishes averaging 17 yards per catch with a running back throwing him the football. It's not as "outlandish" as you make it sound. He's 6'4, 210 pounds and runs a 4.6 40 yard dash.

He would've greatly benefited from 2013 and 2014 catching passes from someone like Gunner Kiel, Wes Lunt, or even Chad Voytik from the 2012 class. The fact is Brady Hoke didn't emphasize QB recruiting because he overestimated both Russell Bellomy and Shane Morris' readiness in 2012 and 2013.

You know what would've been great......

If Brady Hoke maybe would've come in and told Denard that he could best help the team as a RB/WR who gets to throw a few balls now and then, and developed Devin as a QB.  Then recruited the hell out of the position to provide legitimate competition in case Devin didn't develop as hoped.

It's possible that he would've stayed ahead of Devin on the depth chart and would've ended up with Denard at RB and DG at WR with even less depth at QB.  People seem to forget that before Tate had his issues, we had pretty good QB depth.

turn the lights back on.  get back in here and line up, he's going to throw the ball now.  he is going to be playing pro football come september!

So close to reaching a lifelong dream but not quite where he needs to be. I hope he continues to put the energy into it, because I think he could be a good wideout if he gets healthy.

If not, I think he will find success elsewhere in the near future wherever he ends up.

Great young man, just wasn't used correctly. Should have been a WR, just like Denard should have been a RB. Two bad coaches (yes RR was in charge here and not the Freep). Hoke was nice, but my mom is nice and I wouldn't want her as head coach. F I feel bad for these guys.

Exactly this. He has no shot at being a qb and transitioning to wide receiver at that level is going to be very hard to next to impossible. He didn't run very good routes when he played a half a season at wr. If he still wants to play football he could make a roster in the cfl or play in the arena league. It's not the nfl but there's no shame in it either.
