OT - What is On Tap for Your Mother's Day?

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Tomorrow of course is Mother's Day and hopefully you have a mother and/or spouse who it is your pleasure to honor and spoil a little.  So what is on tap for the day?  Special brunch?  Gifts galore?  Relieved of regular duty with kids, house chores, etc?  Share if you feel like it.

Hope you all have a fine day, and particularly our MgoBlog (and MgoBrew) moms.

My wife is the "oh, I don't really want anything" kind. But scrambled eggs with chives and cheese, thick cut bacon, hashed browns, big mugs of coffee all are on order. But our dishwasher broke on Thursday, so tomorrow I get to both buy a new one and do the dishes. A new high-end Bosch (don't break until after they wheel me int the nursing home dammit) is going in place of the Maytag.

I recommend you get one with the extra silverware shelf on top, it's the best thing about our Bosch. That and the fact that it's so quiet you can't hear it, only know it's running by looking at the little red light on the floor.

Took my wife and little girl to a nice dinner, bought her a nice present that she really wants, then I'll stay out of her hair tomorrow.

...plans to join my son and I driving across the state from Ann Arbor to St. Joseph to watch the former play soccer.

We are living the life here, for sure.

I'm taking the kids out of the house as soon as they wake up so the wife can sleep in. Going to go waste some time at Meijer and let the kids pick out a small gift for her. Come home with coffee and breakfast from Biggby in bed. Then going to the in-laws to make a special dinner for the mother in-law and fix their computer.

Well...since winners have earned the right to improve and get better, I am planning to have my mgowife wait on me, while I grit my teeth and take it.

Giving Mom The Quiet Man on Blu-Ray.  She's never even heard of it (which surprised me) let alone knows she likes it, but I know her and the humor in that movie is completely her jam.

Mother just moved 1,200 miles away, still unpacking, etc. She likes gifts well enough, but she'd rather any money go to one of her favorite charities. This year the gift goes to the Himalayan Cataract Project. They've branched out into other poor regions now, but they're giving the gift of sight for as little as $25 per eye, and training local surgeons at the same time. Worth a look.

My husband is giving me exactly what I want for Mother's Day...a day all to myself. I am going to sleep in, enjoy my coffee and then do whatever my little heart desires. Yay!

My 5 year old says she's making breakfast for Mom and I'm looking forward to what that means. Then I'm smoking a chicken (mesquite)...just hanging out at home. Flowers already arrived at my Mom's so looking forward to relaxing tomorrow (and cleaning out the garage, finally).

My kids came over this evening and made me supper.  Gave me flowers and a $40 gift card.  Foot rub.  And we played Boggle.  Yeah, we're lame.  But I treated myself with an order for a signed HTTV.  It's been a good day, and tomorrow is all about the mom-in-law.

Making a lot of meals...

Making French toast for breakfast, and got dinner started on the smoker tonight (it's a 20 lbs pork shoulder).

Other than that, whatever she wants plus lots of extra time with the in-laws. Woo.

My daughter surprised MGoWife by driving from college in LA to the homestead in the Bay Area. Son home now too. Yogurt pancakes in the morning and gifts purchased by the kids. Having them home is the best gift.
