OT: What are you drinking/what did you do instead of watch The Game today?

Submitted by Laser Wolf on December 12th, 2020 at 7:34 PM

Got some errands done. Cleaned out the garage a bit. Had Premier League action on in the background all day. Started in on Great Lakes Ohio City oatmeal stout at about 3, moving to bourbon now that the girls are down. Really a nice little Saturday.

How’s your day been?

Installed a new garage door opener, made some white oak picture frames for Xmas gifts, and am currently sipping some Bulleit. It's been a good day!

Decorated the Christmas tree and ordered a few last minute presents. Far more enjoyable than what would have happened if the Game has PD been played and I had watched.

Well I worked until 3am last night, took me an hour and a half to get home because of the snow and they I slept until 11am today and then went back to work at 3PM

Got a massage and a haircut earlier. Chick-fil-A for lunch. Hit up Lowe’s for some paint, and painted the front hallway of mi casa.

Haven’t drank - but will say, it feels nice not to be mired in a deep depression at 7pm on the day of The Game...

Watched Iowa Wisconsin instead. Ps: what a dummy that Iowa WR is for doing a flip in the end zone and hurting himself.

good news is I’m drunk and full now

Great day. I was hoping Florida would make a strong case for the playoff today to keep OSU out, but that is not playing out at the moment.
I am drinking Empress Gin and Fever Tree Light Tonic with a lemon twist.

I'm terrified to play anyone online, but have been having a ton of fun watching live, world-class matches on Chess24/YouTube lately. Carlsen, So, Nakamura, etc. have been playing lots of tournaments, speed chess, etc. and the commentary is really good. I feel much smarter following along there than I do when trying to find moves on my own, lol.

Mostly knocked off small projects earlier then took the kids to the local MakerSpace here in Charlotte late afternoon/evening to turn them loose on some crafts they've been wanting to get after.

15yo is making a skateboard deck by hand for her first-ever boyfriend for Christmas.  I told her that is pretty outstanding.

Ezra Brooks 90 proof. Not fooling around here. It’s what I’d be drinking after the 73-13 drubbing I expected to happen today. I had planned ahead.

Tore a hole in a wall in my kitchen because when I bought a new refrigerator this week I didn't take into account that these french door fridges don't open flush the way a regular side by side does.  I'm now drinking a nice Kracken rum with cream soda and laughing at what a dumbass I am

Voted in my town’s run-off, then a relative came down with Covid, and, largely due to logistics, nearly got wrangled into taking her to the hospital to plausibly catch it myself, but they adamantly refused to go. Watched football while I planned my quarantine, which was sobering, before the hospital trip was called off, so I continued watching football with a rum and Coke, and did some online Christmas gift shopping. A lot of twists and turns without a lot of action, but things are obviously tense around here with my SO (was her side of the family). Weird day for sure.

Hung out with my 4 and 1 year old daughters had a blast.

Made Christmas cookies with the family for ourselves and neighbors.

drank the last of Rochester Mills Holiday Milkshake Stout pack.

It’s been a smooth day except for the crappy Saline MI weather.

What is this 'The Game' of which you speak? The past two years I have been fortunate to be traveling the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so I could blissfully ignore its existence. And since there was no subsequent UFR, such a thing must not have happened. So today I didn't miss anything.

In lieu of not missing such an event, I stayed chill at home. Literally. I started the morning by having to call to get our furnace repaired. To keep warm until the repair guy showed up (15 minutes before he said he would!), I baked cookies to share with friends and relatives. (I've made a baker's dozen batches so far since Thanksgiving, and haven't even started on the fudge.) I did laundry, grocery shopping, and fixed my wife a nice dinner. Like football, I also avoided doing school work, except to answer a student's email.

I enjoyed some warm apple cider with Captain Morgan (my wife's favorite autumn libation) as a late afternoon cocktail, and a Lansing Brewery Velvet Villain with dinner. I'm about to get out some relatively cheap whiskey to sip until bedtime as I waste time on the internet looking for more cookie recipes to try tomorrow.

60 degrees and sunny.  Took a long walk around the neighborhood in shorts and a t-shirt right around the time we would be in the 4th quarter.  I'm at peace.

Longish run with one of the kids, plowed twice as we finally got some decent snow, the kids made three cheesecakes which I am looking forward to trying after I get the ribs off the grill. Saw the second half of the army navy football game, I absolutely love that game and the tradition.

Been a smooth day. Got BOGO at Boston Market earlier with Eastside Jr. Did some chores and now I’m sipping a cold Red Stripe...Hooray Beer!! Glad I didn’t have to watch us get pegged on national tv.

Hung out with the kids.  Past two weekends have been rather nice. I love Michigan football but I have no interest in watching a team that looks like it no longer even wants to fight.
