OT: Wayne Rooney's Beautiful Winner
In the latest iteration of the Manchester Derby, Manchester United defeated Manchester City 2-1 today. The game winner was scored by Wayne Rooney with this incredible bicycle kick. [Edit: The EPL is diligent about pulling their content off of YouTube, and the video I posted has been removed. If you find a new version, feel free to post in the comments.]
Truly, a thing of beauty.

That goal gets Wazza back into the swing of things. It's been a down year for Wayne. Hope to see a return to firm for him and the Red Devils!!!!

I'm not a fan of soccer, but holy crap that was a pretty sweet, athletic, goal.

It was alright.
I liked Silva's butt goal alittle more, thank you.

We know you would prefer that every game end 0-0 but you gotta give Rooney some credit for that one
February 12th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
but can't deny that Wayne Rooney is a beast. Much respect!

I just did that in FIFA.

I respect Wayne Rooney but I sure don't like him.

Did Mike Martin get confused about which type of football he plays?
February 12th, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
Amazing....
Buy him a pint of his favorite lager and put it on my tab.
February 12th, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
You'll save money if you offer to pay for his favorite prostitute instead.

HIs wife will turn a blind eye and forgive him later. That £220,000 a week helps to look the other way. Nevertheless, I love Rooney, Man U, and that goal was epic. Glory Glory Man United!!

Wow I hate soccer.
February 12th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
Wow no one gives a fk.
The fact that you're making a conscious effort to hate a sport tells me you're just a dick. I have no interest for hockey or nascar but i don't go around telling everyone i hate it.
February 12th, 2011 at 2:50 PM ^
We should probably spread the word about Nascar though...

DRob is a Nascar fan.

I have heard this. Is there a link that proves it?

Just not an exciting game.

Which game?

I was really disappointed that City couldn't hold United to a draw, but that was a beastly goal. There was nothing Hart could do but watch helplessly as the ball went into the corner of the goal. Thankfully, Arsenal won to stay on pace. Van Persie had a pretty nice goal (his first one) too.

But I hate the idea if you get bought by an oil barron you can string together enough ridiculously talented individuals you can buy the title (see also: Chelsea, New York Yankees, Auburn). So I was quite torn on this match.
February 12th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
I mean, I just wanted United to drop points so Arsenal could gain ground. I do not like either of the Manchester clubs. And I agree with you about the real life fantasy football teams.

Usually mgoblog is a safe-site to browse while watching recorded premiership games. Obviously not today. Title of this thread gave it all away.

I was happy when Man U pulled this out. Brings my Spurs within a win of City after they squeeked by at Sunderland. Thanks Rooney!

I don't think anyone, including myself, can appreciate how difficult it is to do that.

"Swagger so dumb, you could call it Sarah Palin"
The Lil Wayne quote describes Wayne Rooney's goal. how bout that.

My reaction, even after knowing what was coming, was "holy shit." If soccer could find a way to showcase its athletes like that on a regular basis, I would watch it a lot more.

This win can be compared to MICHIGAN kicking ohio states ass come this November

That one's impressive even to this non-soccery fan.
Also, at first glance I thought the thread title said Wayne Rooney's Beautiful Weiner
Which begs all kinds of questions as to why I clicked on it......

You guys have no idea how epic this goal was. I was watching the game at a bar in Manchester (yes, Manchester, England) where half the people were Man U fans and the other half City fans. After Rooney scored, the bar went absolutely out of control. United fans (myself included) jumped and yelled and screamed and went nuts, while all the City fans' jaws just dropped to the floor. The announcer said it best "It defies description". It was amazing, and there was no better place to watch it (besides Old Trafford where it was nearly impossible to get tickets) than a bar in Manchester. EPIC

It's a dream of mine to see a match at Old Trafford, and this goal is beautiful. I really don't like Rooney, but I can't deny how amazing that strike was. I love me some American football, but I've never seen anything to rival this in that sport.
