Don't blame Leyland for taking JV out he was over 105 pitches on opening day, and your closer is coming off a 49-49 year, it was a no-brainer what to do. If it wasn't opening day/first month of the season than JV finishes the game, but it's only april 5th.

In fact I love the guy and what he's helped bring to D but dammit, quit micromanaging shit the first damn game of the year. A 2 hit shut out by your ace with 3 batters to go. Let him beat the second doucheyest team in MLB for shit's sake.

Avila with two opposite-field hits in a row. That's a good sign.

Runners on first and second now, 1 out, bottom of the 9th. Santiago is due up and Boston is going to their 'pen.

FYI: Anyone that is already thinking of complaining about Leyland's decision, go look at how many pitches Roy Halladay was at today in the exact same situation (8IP, 2 H).  I'll save you the trouble.  He had 92 - thirteen less.

It was the right decision even though I admit I would have loved to see JV finish his gem.  Let's get a run in and not sweat the small stuff.

Dear ESPN camera crew, zoom in on the pitcher/batter.  I'm not that concerned with Avila's lead at second when the game winning run is on third.

Kills me how a guy can inherit a 2-0 lead, blow it, get bailed out by his Offense and HE gets the win over the guy that pitched 8 scoreless innings of 2 hit ball.  Can't really score it any other way, but MAN does that not pass the smell test...

You could have a stipulation that if a pitcher allowed more runs than were earned while he was pitching that he can't get the win and it goes to the previous pitcher.

Remains my celebrity man-crush. He looks like Tigger and he's the best pitcher in the AL. He can be our best player and our mascot!  I love it.
