WXYT on. Ready for ball.
OT- Tigers vs Redsox open thread
Game is on espn3.com, happy opening day everyone
I am in AA and its blacked out for me. Shit.
Im not from michigan, can someone explain why its blacked out in Ann Arbor especially when its a sell out? I know the nfl rules about stuff like that but in Ohio we never had blackouts for the Tribe.
Link to a work around for espn3 stream
Sorry ESPN2.... It's all FSD today
Game is blacked out on ESPN3 any place else to catch a live stream for those of us at work?
Thank you good sir!
Can your IT Dept. rewire your computer to convince the internet that you're in Colorado or Mississippi and not competing with FSN?
Stupid ESPN blacking out the game on ESPN3 and ESPN2.
Any live streaming audio? WXYT online doesn't have the games per MLB bullshit rules
Rod Allen drinking game is about to commence, Go Tigers!
What's going on with ESPN2?
LEEEEETTTSSSS GOOOOOOO TIIIIGGGEEERRRRRS!
that new screen in left looks good
Yeah, the screen itself is nice, but the billbord advertising around it is awful. Makes me appreciate the conspicuous lack of advertising in Michigan Stadium even more.
Also, I don't like that they removed the arch in the middle with the block letters spelling "TIGERS" with the straight top and script "Tigers" that the team doesn't even use on any of their uniforms.
Well, the team never used "TIGERS" (the old scoreboard font) on its uniforms, either.
Can anyone provide a non espn3 streaming link? plzkthx
Three up, three down for the Sox.
1-2-3 for JV!
For those who recommended firstrowsports, it's saying that I need to download StreamTorrent to see the video. Is that legit? Has anybody else had to download that?
I got that message too, but I'm not a big fan of StreamTorrent feeds. People posted other links that should work
Y'know, seeing the Sawx using fat-ass Kevin Youkilis at third base makes me wonder what all the hoopla about Cabrera was.
Due to his recent hip injuries Youk can't really move laterally anymore but up until a couple of years ago he was a GREAT corner infielder.
Prince fielder and Justin verlander in "baseball apple pies and chevrolet" commercials.
no, no-hitter today for JV. lol
disgusting breaking ball there.
That 12-6 curve was absolutely filthy. Ross knew he had no chance.
That last pitch was a work of art.
WHOOPS that was strike 3. Ross knew it, too.
That's why Verlander's so nasty: a guy with the balls to throw a full-count curveball with a runner on third, and the skills to make it perfect.
Fielder makes his Tigers debut with a base hit.
Great start Prince.
Nice hit Fielder...let's get something going!
Another double play!
Same old Raburn haha. lets get those double plays out of the way early.
its scary that he is "only" throwing 94-95 and still blowing it by these guys, with what we know he is capable of.
Give me more baseball hotdogs apple pie and chevrolets!
Not a bad AB by Jackson. Worked the count full and got a good pitch to hit. Just hit it right to Ellsbury. I'll take it though.
JV pitchin like it's easy money. Now let's get this fool some run support.
hey delmon, dont swing at pitches a foot above the strike zone.
and nice tidy whities.
Hmm, I always thought it was "tighty." Kudos to Delmon though, if he keeps his tidy.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's tighty. At least, that's how I've always known it.
No scoring around the league yet today. All 3 games are scoreless.
Rod Allen commercial!?
Take a shot.
Needs to be added to the drinking game immediately
Does anyone know how much AirRide costs?
I was referrencing the commercial, which kept shouting "$12!" at about double the volume of every other commercial.
Nice grab by Cabrera.
Kind of sad the crowd cheered for him falling over on a simple pop fly. Followed by what was clearly an error at third, but for some miracle it was scored a hit. He looks more out of shape than normal. Atleast he can hit.
Hell YEah MIggy!
Got 'im with the hook! Man is he good.
Alright, so to all of you arm chair (or office chair) managers out there: with Verlander sitting at 83 pitches thrown, do you bring him back out for the 7th? Would you let your ace pitcher reach (or even exceed) 100 pitches on opening day?
83 isn't anything to JV, even it is opening day.
So ummm Verlander has gotta be done right? Please? You don't wanna burn his arm out too early in the season.
Tigers lead 1-0!
AVILA! A very clutch at bat.
hells yeah avila
Nice, JV might go back out now for the 8th with a lead.
Nice knock Avila! Good patience!!
quick inning for JV....he could finish this thing, but I think Leyland goes to Valverde.
Is it just me or does Verlander look like a ninja riding a cheetah out there? He's unreal!
triple! nice Ajax.
Make them pay for it Prince!
That was the fastest triple i've ever seen.
Wow, intentionally walking Cabrera to get to Fielder. I love this lineup!
That's something to get used to, Miguel walks and Prince gets an RBI.
Awards so far:
Defensive MVP: JV
Offenseive MVP: Peralta (Got on base 3 times)
Attaboys: Austin Jackson, Alex Avilla
Shake it off kid: Brennan Boesch
Good baseball today, Tigers fans!!
I wonder when the last time was that a pitcher threw to first twice in a row with Cabrera occupying it. Big stolen-base threat there.
Prince with his first RBI as a Tiger.
Alright....time for the other JV to do his thing. Go Big Potato.
Verlander's pitch count? Was hoping leyland would let him complete this one.
ESPN says 105. I'm fine with him not coming out for the ninth. If this is May or later in the season, then definitely let him come out, but not in April.
Now, Valverde needs to get his act together and get an out!
as in I won't sleep any different tonight but come one. Let him shut out the hated Sox on opening day with a 2 hitter. Show the MLB the big man is back for more again this year.
It's 2-1 Tigers, Top 9.
Alright, now just a DP to end it. Come on, Papa Grande.
2 down. I want to see a dance...
You jinxed him. Way to go.
Base hit Red Sox. They tie it.
well, blown save off the bat.
Man, Rod Allen said exactly what I was thinking. 49 of 49.....and 0 for 1.
im kinda okay with 98%. as long as he gets his next 49.
He can get a win out of this now, right?
Yes, he'd be the winning pitcher if the Tigers win in the 9th. Yes, that's highly ironic.
blown save and blown win for Verlander
Wooohoooo! Thanks for taking Verlander out.
Just effing let Verlander complete the damn thing.
Oh well, extra innings means we get to watch more ball so I guess whatever.
that was close.
Hate to see Verlander lose that win, cant believe Leyland took him out
Eh, I can. If you can't trust your closer to finish off a 2-run lead, then you're screwed. There's no need to stretch your starters out any further than is necessary in April.
105 pitches in his first start of the year, with an All-Star closer who was perfect last year ready to go?
It's really hard to question tha move with a huge helping of hindsight.
Boo Verlander not getting a win.
Yay more baseball.
Tigers got a little stew brewing here
Valverde , destroying a nine year olds opening day dream.
Don't blame Leyland for taking JV out he was over 105 pitches on opening day, and your closer is coming off a 49-49 year, it was a no-brainer what to do. If it wasn't opening day/first month of the season than JV finishes the game, but it's only april 5th.
When the best pitcher in the league is absolutely dominating, you DO NOT take him out
In fact I love the guy and what he's helped bring to D but dammit, quit micromanaging shit the first damn game of the year. A 2 hit shut out by your ace with 3 batters to go. Let him beat the second doucheyest team in MLB for shit's sake.
Help me here, would it have been a better or worse decision if the Tigers were playing, say, the 12th douchiest team in the league?
Avila with two opposite-field hits in a row. That's a good sign.
Runners on first and second now, 1 out, bottom of the 9th. Santiago is due up and Boston is going to their 'pen.
FYI: Anyone that is already thinking of complaining about Leyland's decision, go look at how many pitches Roy Halladay was at today in the exact same situation (8IP, 2 H). I'll save you the trouble. He had 92 - thirteen less.
It was the right decision even though I admit I would have loved to see JV finish his gem. Let's get a run in and not sweat the small stuff.
you and Moleskyn are exactly right but, man! If Papa had saved it I wouldn't have batted an eye. Now I'm all butt hurt. I hate Boston damn near as much as the Yankees.
Haha, fair enough, I don't necessarily disagree with that sentiment.
The advantage of having a middle relief guy as our closer is he could go 5 or 6 innings right now!
The disadvantage is that these pressure situations aren't really his thing :P
Bases loaded! Ajax up, 1 out...
Dear ESPN camera crew, zoom in on the pitcher/batter. I'm not that concerned with Avila's lead at second when the game winning run is on third.
I like to post on the 2nd page (of 3) of a thread where the game is over to get points. Ahh new system?!?
So little pond...
C'mon, Austin. End this.
No way you put JV back out there with 105 pitches on April 5.
Valverde blew it, but here's hoping Tigers win it in the 9th.
Jackson is clutch! Tigers win!
Jackson is consistent this year, look out. He is the catalyst for an already potent offense.
WALKOFF WINNER AJ
Ball game! Jackson with an RBI base hit down the third-base line! Hey-oh!
AJAX! its gonna be a good year boys!
walkoff RBI single for A-Jax! Woo!
Good day for AJax.
Has to give him some confidence going forward.
Ohh well. Anyone wanna grab some fried chicken?
Great day for Jackson: 3-5, game-winning RBI, a run scored, and NO STRIKEOUTS. Keep it up, man.
Kills me how a guy can inherit a 2-0 lead, blow it, get bailed out by his Offense and HE gets the win over the guy that pitched 8 scoreless innings of 2 hit ball. Can't really score it any other way, but MAN does that not pass the smell test...
You could have a stipulation that if a pitcher allowed more runs than were earned while he was pitching that he can't get the win and it goes to the previous pitcher.
There are many crazy things about baseball, but this is one of the worst. It's an absolute atrocity.
Remains my celebrity man-crush. He looks like Tigger and he's the best pitcher in the AL. He can be our best player and our mascot! I love it.
