OT: Tigers

Why do they always suck after sweeping Chicago? Are they going to be swept by Cleveland? At least Twins are pounding Sox..

decision, but Young was 3-20 off Masterson coming in his career. That was the reasoning for not playing Young, even though like I said I don't agree with it espcially when Kelly is hitting 6th. I normally am not a Leyland hater, but I will say he should of played Young's despite what his numbers were against Masterson.

Still though, the Tigers had no bussiness only scoring 2 runs in back to back to games against the Tribe, regardless of what the lineup was. The majority of the blame should be placed on the hitters for not getting it done the past two nights. Really mindboggling, given how well the Chicago series went that they would drop 2 against a team that was 5-25 over it's last 30 coming in.

Somebody else mentioned it, by I think Mcclendon is the one of the hot seat if this team doesn't make the playoffs. The approach at the plate from the hitters has been wildly inconsistent all year,  part of that falls on the hitting coach.

has gained some slack from DD and Illitch based primarly on the Tiger's performance last year and in 2006.  The pitching staff, the last couple of years, has basically pitched on a level equal to it's talent so I don't see Jeff Jones as being on the hot seat either. Hence, why Lloyd Mcclendon is most likely the only coach who could potentially be let go at the end of the season. Despite what some people think inconsistent hitting from role players has been the primary reason this team has underachived so far, not managerial decisions.

I'm usually a Leyland supporter but tonight's lineup was beyond awful. If you're going to play Don Kelly because you want Fielder off his feet for the night fine, but don't bat him 6th. Kelly's hitting .173 there is no way he should be in an RBI driving spot. And typical Rick going less than 6 innings and giving up 3 ER, but he did get screwed a bit by some seeing eye singles and doubles for that matter. Just hope healthy Fister goes out and gives them a quality outing  tomorrow and please for the love of god hit Ubaldo hard.

As a Tribe fan the Tigers have given my some of the few pleasures of the season. The win over Verlander late was highlight of the year. Extra inning 5 run inning for Tigers send Tribe to hell. If Tribe can win Wed. would be awesome. I think Lloyd is on the way out too since they brought Toby Harrah up as a overseer. I remmember when Tribe was tuuurrrrible. 90's broke my heart. Early 2000's they were really good. Now they can't hit there way out of a paper bag. Wha happen?

I have been consistent even during wins. He is under performing with the talent he has available. He doesn't inspire anyone to play, and is in the worst division. How could anyone support this guy?

for any of the players? This team's biggest problem all year has been inconsistent production from role players (Peralta, Avila, Boesch, Raburn before he was sent down, Young until recently). Please tell me what Leyland is supposed to do to magically fix that issue. Is there some magic body switching device I am not aware where those inconsistent performers could be swapped for role players on other teams who have been more consistent?

The hitting coach is one of Leyland's best friends and both are proponents of the archaic philosophy of aggressive free-swinging that has produced so many frustrating moments at the plate this year and made many mediocre pitching opponents look like Cy Young candidates for a night.

Combine that with the lineup oddities and yeah, there's a lot of blame to throw his way.

Check the wild card standings... any team in their position that can't take care of the freaking Royals or Indians doesn't have what it takes.

Wait till next year.

Well, the next couple of weeks will be telling. After tomorrow's day off, we start a 10-game road trip, with 7 of those games against the Angels and White Sox. I'll withhold my judgment of this team until after that stretch.
