you are going to switch to a terrible, outdated OS based on Javascript? The 6.0 'upgrade' is hardly that...same OS with a better browser does not equal 5.0->6.0, I would recommend checking other options.
iPhone and Android are the only real choices right now. WebOS is actually probably the best OS out there for regular consumers, only there only a few device options and fewer applications. Windows Phone 7 impressed me more than I thought it would, but still has a ways to go to compete, although infinitely better than blackkberry though.

I'd be willing to work on one. I've got the time as a grad student, and it would be pretty useful considering not everyone wants to be stuck with an iPhone.

There's some dude on the boards already working on one. I don't remember whom and I don't remember how far along it is, but s/he already showed screenshots of the work in progress.
