OT: RIP Rutger Hauer
Rutger Hauer passed last Friday. He was amazing in Blade Runner.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
He is said to have improvised much of this monologue.

Would have posted it if you hadn't. Cheers.
Well shit. One of my favorites. He was an awesome actor
He was great in Lady Hawke, too.
I loved The Hitcher growing up. Such a great psycho
Yes- he was chilling in that movie- which was so much better than many other horror/psycho movies.
If Rutger University doesn't do some sort of a tribute on opening day, they should be kicked out of the NCAA before halftime.
I mean even if they do...
....they'll find a way to fuck that up, too.
I liked him in Surviving The Game as well.
I saw the original Blade Runner in the theater when I was 12. Roy Batty haunted my dreams for months afterwards.
RIP Roy.

Nighthawks is my favorite Hauer film.
My favorite scene of my favorite movie.
He should have been bigger after that.
One of the great sci fi movies of all time, and he was terrific in it. Lot of excellent performances in that film.
Not sure if it was mentioned , was he not in some X or R rated movies back in the early 60's ?

He first made his mark in Dutch films such as Turkish Delight and Soldier of Orange in the 1970s (which film historians mark as the two best Dutch films of the 20th century). I haven't seen Turkish Delight but it sounds like it would be X or R rated for sure based off the plot/synopsis. Both films directed by Paul Verhoeven...yes as in director of Robocop, Total Recall and Basic Instinct among others.
The Hitcher -
Haunting
I know this will sound silly to some, but Ladyhawke was a good movie.
The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and you have burned so very very brightly.
That is a phenomenal scene. So intense.
Poetic, you really see the transformation of the character and feel the sense of loss of all those "moments in time". Definitely one of my all time favorites.
Weird coincidence: Blade Runner was set in 2019, and Roy Batty dies that year. Rutger dies the same year as his character.
Holy shit!
Bummer; I enjoyed his films. Blind Fury was a favorite of my preteen years.
You've done a man's job, sir...
I’m sure the producers and maybe Ridley Scott thought that Harrison Ford would be the primary star, but Hauer stole every scene he was in—he made the movie memorable.
I loved his movies. Definitely one of the all time underrated actors. As a kiss fan, I loved that movie he did with Gene Simmons, Wanted Dead or Alive, as well. Not his most famous, and definitely not as good as Blade Runner, but worth a mention in this thread.
RIP Rutger
Blood of Heroes!
Im going to have to watch 'The Hitcher' again
