Sad to see this. I've really enjoyed his show "Baskets" and grew up with Louie hosting shows and on comedy all the time. Mixed in the "midwest wholesome" with some hilarious back-handed comedy and great long jokes.

2022 giving us a running kick in the nuts.

RIP Louie. He started off on clean up, then he was washing lettuce, then on fries...soon, the grill. In a year or two he made assistant manager. That's where the big bucks started rolling in...

He's been battling cancer.  RIP Louie!

Loved his jokes about the time he went to Japan.  They assumed he was a Sumo wrestler and treated him like royalty.

He also joked about eating at a Chinese buffet:  "you be here long time, go home now

I had no idea he was that old!  Or fighting cancer...  Cancer sucks, and it can fuck all the way off.  He was in some pretty good movies, also some stinkers.  RIP, Louie, and thanks for the laughs.

In the early 90s (I believe? maybe very late 80s?), Louie hit it big with a really funny 60-minute standup special that aired on Comedy Central, or whatever that channel was called then. And they aired it a LOT, and me and my entire family absolutely loved it. I must have watched that 50 times.

And as others have noted already, he was terrific on 'Baskets.'

“If I was the last person on earth, some moron would turn left in front of me!”

My kids have heard me say that a thousand times probably.

Nice guy!

I moved to L.A. in my early 20's.  Drove a limo between gigs for a friend who owned the company.  One night, I picked up Louie at his home in the Hollywood Hills.  He was doing a gig at the Laugh Factory on Sunset Blvd.  He invited me in to introduce himself and tell me he was going to be moment.  He was very gracious.  Shortly after, I drove him down to the venue and the place was a mob scene.  People around the block waiting/trying to get in.  He said that he didn't want to head in just yet, would I mind driving around.  Of course, I said, and I drove him around the Sunset Strip for about 30 minutes.  The whole time he asked questions about me, my career, etc.  When I told him that I was an actor between gigs he said, "Hollywood's gonna come knockin', kid.  I have no doubt.  And when they do, tell them to go fuck themselves.  Then they'll want you even more." And he broke out into his cackle of a laugh.  I'll never forget it. I dropped him off and the guy wished me luck.  The guy was about to go onstage, packed house, taping the show for TV, and he wished me luck.  That man was a rarity.
