Coyotes score 29 seconds into the game hopefully the Wings come back.

The rule is if the ref loses sight of the puck. In this case the ref waited a good 2 seconds before blowing the whistle. I have no complaints. It's quick whistles when it's unclear that are bad, that was a slow whistle when it was unclear: fine. Wings got sloppy in the last 10 of that period.

Looks like the Yotes have gotten their physicality back in this past period. However, losing Doan is huge. They can't afford to fall back and be too defensive or the wings will take advantage.

getting deja vu with this team? i see them play and it reminds me of the detroit pistons of the mid 2000s. a grizzly, veteran team that seems to only play well with their backs against the wall. they seem too composed at times for their own good. anyone get the same feeling?

The commentators (in a fashion typical of NBC) sounded like they had no idea what they were talking about for most of the game, so I'm not going to give their opinion any credence. That said, I agree that it was an early whistle. However, I doubt that goal would have stood anyway.

Ugh, that was a pathetic effort for the last two periods. Did they win a battle for the puck once in those forty minutes? Except the Franzen goal? (surely a coincidence!)

Little or no effort by the Wings. Phoenix is obviously hungrier. The third line (Cleary-Helm-Miller) has been attrocious and so has Rafalski. You can survive a bad game or two but you can't survive lack of desire. Hopefully, getting knocked out in the first round (combined with a couple of off-season personnel tweaks) will restore that.
