OT: Recruiting: Harbaugh

Submitted by Knappster on

Anyone familiar with Harbaugh's recruiting?  As far as pipelines and areas where he focuses?  According to Rivals, he has the #5 and #7 linebackers committed!  One from NJ and one from GA.  Also has commits from Texas, Washington, Colorado, New York, Lousiana, Indiana, and more.  Does he really recruit that well nationwide?  And if so, is this in part due to his NFL ties?

TomVH - can you shed any light on him as a recruiter and what makes him so successful (other than winning)?

*****THIS IS AN IMPORTANT POST TO READ BECAUSE IT'S 'THE' TRUTH*****

#1) Michigan is NOT Jim Harbaugh's 'dream job.'  He wants an NFL job, because him and his brother are so competitive.  SD, SF, Oak and Car (and maybe even Dal and Min) are all going to be fighting over him this off-season.

#2) Dave Brandon is going to be doing absolutely everything he can to convince him to come to Michigan over the next month.

#3) In all likelihood, Rich Rod will be brought back (signing a two year extension after the bowl game), and Greg Robinson will be replaced (along with the 3-3-5).  Ron English is supposedly an early DC candidate.

I'm going to start a thread titled:

"Cancel Bowl Practice"

Rodriguez is canned anyway. Let's cancel bowl practice, have those canceled hours count toward ending our NCAA probation faster. It'd also be helpful because we don't want our players practicing that damned spread offense - it never worked in the Big Ten anyway.

See how many people I can sucker into posting something serious.

Look, we need to start considering these things whether we want RR to stay or not.  Stanford recruits some of the same players we do, so why not explore what makes Stanford/Harbaugh so successful?

If RR was staying FOR SURE, we would know and I wouldn't have posted this.  But we are all wondering and thinking "what if".

We don't need to start considering how another coach's recruiting is going. If RR is let go then things like that become relevant but right now you're talking about a coaching candidate for a postion that, currently, ISN'T EVEN OPEN. Whether you like it or not, RR is the coach so anything having to do with Harbaugh or any other coaching "candidate" is irrelevant, a waste of time, and not board worhy.

The sad part people dont realize is that players want to play at UofM  but wont fully Commit because of your Coaching situation. Yes I know we got some good players but the Big names we Need keep saying "there going to wait to see how michigan does before deciding" which means is the coach I want to play for be there to coach Me. People support the coach we have because better days are coming. The big question is Who Are We Playing In the Bowl Game????

i think harbaugh is just a badass recruiter. he is fairly young and many of the parents houses that he is going in to recruit these kids remember when he was the starting QB for the maize and blue and that he also went on to have a successful NFL career.  also, recruiting to palo alto may be a little easier than anywhere in the midwest.  but let's not forget, RR has done a good job of getting some of his guys.  we all know the defensive woes, but look at how good the offense was.  and he has also grabbed a few good players to say the least (denard, roy, lewan, roh, demar ((ugh)), dallas, DEE) to name a few.  RR is very far from a slouch when it comes to recruiting though, and not to mention we were fighting the worst streak of injuries known to man.

Each time I come back to see what's new on the board, I half expect it to have devolvedinto just all out carnage; limbs and viscera just strewn about.  Though, I have to admit, as much as I'd like to see RR get another year, all this subterfuge, rumor-mongering and wild spectulation is interesting.

My cousin's friend's next door neighbor who used to live in Ann Arbor but now lives in Palo Alto said thad Jim Harbaugh farted and it smelled like Blimpy Burgers and Domion's Pizza so he must have been in Ann Arbor talking to Brandon. As stupid as this sounds, this is the level of most of the posts and comments over the past week.

I think we all need a break from things and Brian should host a live blog for the Victoria's Secret fashion show tomorrow night!

I just can't let go.....I will say what RR says "we talk about players on the TEAM". PERIOD!!!

Carr had his say, which should be expected from the head coach, but the eye-opening thing was his strong choice of words for a former player. In response to a question, he called Harbaugh's comments "elitist," "arrogant" and "self serving."

I think Stanford went from 3 and 28 in the several years prior to Jimmy getting there and now they are in the top 5 of the BCS.  Might he have recruited some studs to get there in three years?

Might he have coached the living shit out of whoever was there and the new guys to achieve this?

Cumbaya my friends!
