OT: Recruiting: Harbaugh
Anyone familiar with Harbaugh's recruiting? As far as pipelines and areas where he focuses? According to Rivals, he has the #5 and #7 linebackers committed! One from NJ and one from GA. Also has commits from Texas, Washington, Colorado, New York, Lousiana, Indiana, and more. Does he really recruit that well nationwide? And if so, is this in part due to his NFL ties?
TomVH - can you shed any light on him as a recruiter and what makes him so successful (other than winning)?

Why is this not OT?

*****THIS IS AN IMPORTANT POST TO READ BECAUSE IT'S 'THE' TRUTH*****
#1) Michigan is NOT Jim Harbaugh's 'dream job.' He wants an NFL job, because him and his brother are so competitive. SD, SF, Oak and Car (and maybe even Dal and Min) are all going to be fighting over him this off-season.
#2) Dave Brandon is going to be doing absolutely everything he can to convince him to come to Michigan over the next month.
#3) In all likelihood, Rich Rod will be brought back (signing a two year extension after the bowl game), and Greg Robinson will be replaced (along with the 3-3-5). Ron English is supposedly an early DC candidate.

can we all just go find heroin in each of our respective towns and cities and go on a month long bender till after the bowl game....and then start talking about michigan football again?
November 29th, 2010 at 9:01 PM ^
I don't know what it's like to take heroin, but I have to imagine it's better than this. I'm down.

If by heroin, you guys mean heroine, then I'm game.

I'm going to start a thread titled:
"Cancel Bowl Practice"
Rodriguez is canned anyway. Let's cancel bowl practice, have those canceled hours count toward ending our NCAA probation faster. It'd also be helpful because we don't want our players practicing that damned spread offense - it never worked in the Big Ten anyway.
See how many people I can sucker into posting something serious.
November 29th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
You would sucker thousands. And then people would post new threads refuting your thread. And my finger would creep closer and closer to the trigger.
November 29th, 2010 at 9:00 PM ^
Let's not kid ourselves. We all know your finger is already on the trigger. The muscular twitches of the finger is whats important, now.

he is not our coach. we should be worried about rich rod's recruiting. Jeebus
November 29th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
Look, we need to start considering these things whether we want RR to stay or not. Stanford recruits some of the same players we do, so why not explore what makes Stanford/Harbaugh so successful?
If RR was staying FOR SURE, we would know and I wouldn't have posted this. But we are all wondering and thinking "what if".
November 29th, 2010 at 8:48 PM ^
We will consider this IF Rich Rod is let go. For christ's sake, we don't even know if Harbaugh will be hired. Maybe he's blowing smoke and waiting for the right NFL job.
November 30th, 2010 at 1:20 AM ^
We don't need to start considering how another coach's recruiting is going. If RR is let go then things like that become relevant but right now you're talking about a coaching candidate for a postion that, currently, ISN'T EVEN OPEN. Whether you like it or not, RR is the coach so anything having to do with Harbaugh or any other coaching "candidate" is irrelevant, a waste of time, and not board worhy.

Other than winning? Has he won the Pac-10 yet, has he won a MNC yet. His overall record is not out of this world.

I had to stop when you asked about Harbaugh's penis. Didn't realize he had the #5 and #7 penis pump! Are those good models?

is our coach and we should be worrying about his recruiting, especially his defensive recruits!
November 29th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
The sad part people dont realize is that players want to play at UofM but wont fully Commit because of your Coaching situation. Yes I know we got some good players but the Big names we Need keep saying "there going to wait to see how michigan does before deciding" which means is the coach I want to play for be there to coach Me. People support the coach we have because better days are coming. The big question is Who Are We Playing In the Bowl Game????

i think harbaugh is just a badass recruiter. he is fairly young and many of the parents houses that he is going in to recruit these kids remember when he was the starting QB for the maize and blue and that he also went on to have a successful NFL career. also, recruiting to palo alto may be a little easier than anywhere in the midwest. but let's not forget, RR has done a good job of getting some of his guys. we all know the defensive woes, but look at how good the offense was. and he has also grabbed a few good players to say the least (denard, roy, lewan, roh, demar ((ugh)), dallas, DEE) to name a few. RR is very far from a slouch when it comes to recruiting though, and not to mention we were fighting the worst streak of injuries known to man.
November 29th, 2010 at 8:52 PM ^
Each time I come back to see what's new on the board, I half expect it to have devolvedinto just all out carnage; limbs and viscera just strewn about. Though, I have to admit, as much as I'd like to see RR get another year, all this subterfuge, rumor-mongering and wild spectulation is interesting.

Oh, yeah... definitely nauseating too.
November 29th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
My cousin's friend's next door neighbor who used to live in Ann Arbor but now lives in Palo Alto said thad Jim Harbaugh farted and it smelled like Blimpy Burgers and Domion's Pizza so he must have been in Ann Arbor talking to Brandon. As stupid as this sounds, this is the level of most of the posts and comments over the past week.
I think we all need a break from things and Brian should host a live blog for the Victoria's Secret fashion show tomorrow night!

Everyone knows that Harbaugh's s**t doesn't stink.
November 29th, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^
Even if it comes from Tom Brady's wife.
That shit really do stink.
November 29th, 2010 at 9:08 PM ^
I just can't let go.....I will say what RR says "we talk about players on the TEAM". PERIOD!!!
Carr had his say, which should be expected from the head coach, but the eye-opening thing was his strong choice of words for a former player. In response to a question, he called Harbaugh's comments "elitist," "arrogant" and "self serving."

It's a legitimate question.
November 29th, 2010 at 9:38 PM ^
I think Stanford went from 3 and 28 in the several years prior to Jimmy getting there and now they are in the top 5 of the BCS. Might he have recruited some studs to get there in three years?
Might he have coached the living shit out of whoever was there and the new guys to achieve this?
Cumbaya my friends!
