OT: Real Madrid and Manchester United to play at the Big House
It's being reported that Manchester United and Real Madrid will play at the Big House on Saturday, August 2 at 4PM as part of the 2014 International Champions Cup.
Even though it will only be a preseason match, it'll be a great opportunity to see two of the world's biggest soccer clubs and some of the world's best players.

Would hate to be part of the grounds crew putting that together, though. And then switching the stadium back to football mode before the season starts, all in the August heat... blerg.

Aren't they just going to play on the Fieldturf? I can't imagine we'd install a new field for one exhibition.

They'd probably use the existing field turf but I can't imagine that the football lines will be left on the pitch. Not matter what, don't care, definitely going to this. Also, the goal posts will likely have to be removed.

From what I hear, the floor of the Big House isn't big enough for a soccer field, so they'd have to raise the floor up over the walls to create more room. Seems like a hell of a lot of hassle for, as you say, one exhibition.

King Juan Carlos I is on their €1 & €2 coins. No one's on the banknotes. "Each banknote has its own colour and is dedicated to an artistic period of European architecture. The front of the note features windows or gateways while the back has bridges, symbolising links between countries and with the future."

I've never seen a soccer match in person. I'd also like to get into a brawl with those limey bastards.

HIT THE BRAKES?

Man, they really could have done better than getting a midtable EPL club to play Real Madrid.
But seriously, as an Arsenal fan, I hate this. I hope the school gets a good cut of this. That's like the only good that can come out of this for me.

It's great to hear the Brits say things. Like "Good lord, it's cheese, what what!" and "Hello <insert name>, how the devil are you?".

Me and a couple of my non-Michigan buddies here in DC are already thinking about flying in for this game. Love it! Just wish we could get a USMNT game though.

I'm forever blowing bubbles...
