OT: Poor damn Joe Milton

Sorry-not-sorry to kick the man when he's down, but . . .

Stop what you are doing, go on Twitter, search "Joe Milton," and scroll through the top Tweets.  I am rolling.  The best have GIFs and videos, but here's some of the best of the rest.

Here's a quick link.

Honestly feel bad for Joe, though not as much as I would have before he threw shade at Michigan on at least two occasions.

I thought Huepel would do more RPO stuff to help alleviate Milton from passing all the time...but it appears that the issues he had here is still causing him issues at Tennessee...the inability to make easy throws or make reads quickly.

Eh, screw him.  He's done nothing but trash Michigan and the coaches since he left and has taken no accountability for his own failures as a QB.  Glad he's someone else's problem

15 step drop one had me rolling. No particular hate for the guy even if he did throw shade on his way out but some guys are good practice qbs and can’t play in games. Some guys have the tools and just can’t put it all together. Joe wasn’t good enough here to remain the starter. Looks like that’s proving true again in Tennessee. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out. I am also not qualified to be a QB1 at a D1 school. Such is life.

I'm still a Milton fan and I am rooting for him - which is the first time I've ever rooted for Tennessee. It is actually kind of fun to watch him throw the ball without so much personal interest riding on every throw. I hope he's okay from his injury that kept him out of the game.

Haha, good material!

But also reinforces a bigger point: people are way too quick to fall in love with a "cannon arm."

Decision making, timing, accuracy, leadership, and just enough zip. A cannon arm is fun to watch but it's a luxury good, not a necessity.

Appears that our friends in Tennessee are getting to know the same joy we knew when Joe was here! Good that they have a sense of humor and in fairness, have some clever wordplay in their tweets. Very funny!

At the same time, I wish nothing but the best for Joe Milton. He’s obviously a hard worker and smart kid having graduated in three years. Good on him. He will always be a Michigan Man.

Now if he can only fix that accuracy thing.

Eh, he’s just not good for a power-5 QB.
Sure, he can throw hard. But he can’t make any throws any D-1 athlete can make….unless they run a 4.0 - 40 and are 8 ft tall.

it's easy to see why coaches, recruiters, etc. are enamored by him...I mean...look at him. That said, he really should probably be accruing massive numbers like a man child in the MAC. Certainly being in the MAC wouldn't fix accuracy issues but you'd have to wonder if playing at a school like UM or UT is just too much and he'd thrive a bit better in a MAC sort of atmosphere.

It's nice to see the Joe Burrow stories where people get their shot and knock it out of the park.  ...but Joe had his shot at Michigan and didn't take advantage of it.  He was the starting QB over McCaffery and McNamara and had a full hype train and everything.

It is validating that Tennessee got fooled by his throwing ability as well.  Our coaches didn't make a bad decision benching him.  I'm still rooting for him to figure it out.

While it may seem like semantics, I'd say it's more than he doesn't have the ability to take advantage of it verse a work ethic thing. That may not even be what you are saying but I do think it is noteworthy that he likely was put in a position where he didn't have the physical ability to succeed.

From UT 24x7:

So much so that the starting spot may be up for grabs again. Following Milton’s injury, Hendon Hooker entered the game and, at the very least, managed the offense well. When asked whether Hooker or Milton should be Tennessee’s starter moving forward, 247Sports’ Bud Elliott had a fairly direct answer. “Hooker easily,” Elliott wrote. “Milton has a (skill set) that gets coaches fired. Huge arm, built like Cam (Newton), but just not accurate or on time ever.”
