OT Pelini takes parting shot at Nebraska Athletic Department
Pelini in a press conference took a zinger shot at the Nebraska Athletic Department.
"I believe that I have a great situation here," the 47-year-old Pelini said, "have a tremendous athletic director, have a president who understands football, who's going to support me, something that I don't know if I've ever had."

I will miss Bo.

I'd bet on him being back in the FBS ranks within a few years
December 17th, 2014 at 3:56 PM ^
I see.
December 17th, 2014 at 3:59 PM ^
That's not a very impressive "shot."
More impressive would have been something like,"yeah, well I had sex with your wife!"

"The jerk store called and their running out of my old AD".

that's why he was fired?

His wife is in a coma...

...Bo doesn't do anything half-assed.

Nebraska may be a step up from Oregon State, but it still lacks a recruiting base.
December 17th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
I want him here. Strange but I like it!
December 17th, 2014 at 4:02 PM ^
That was a fine parthian shot.
I had hoped Pelini would do something more dramatic and classical, however, like lighting cats on fire and turning them loose to burn the Nebraska campus down.
I do hope for Pelini's best. I'm confident Nebraska is going to be second-guessing their decision to cut him loose for many years to come.

Bo taking one last shot, good for Bo and Nebraska will soon miss his 9 - 10 wins a year.
December 18th, 2014 at 7:53 AM ^
we had a coach like that, and I'm still amazed at the hatred for the man on this site.
December 18th, 2014 at 11:19 AM ^
That coach retired, he wasn't fired. The ire leveled at him around here has more to do with his lack of leadership as the de facto patriarch of the football program the past 7 years. The ire has to do with the fact with his using that position to handcuff this program from progressing over the past 7 years.
Can you imagine what fans and alumni would say at Nebraska if Tom Osborne was cutting his successors off at the knees by not offering them support from inside the Nebraska AD?
December 17th, 2014 at 4:03 PM ^
I still can't get over the fact that Ohio is so football crazy that one of its universities thinks a football coach is an appropriate president.
December 17th, 2014 at 4:05 PM ^
Don't be surprised when he becomes Governor Tressel, then Senator...

To be perfectly honest if Bo ran for Mayor of Ann Arbor or something I'm sure he would have won in a landslide.
December 17th, 2014 at 4:12 PM ^
Not just any football coach, but a repeat cheater who has been slapped with a show cause by the NCAA.
December 17th, 2014 at 4:29 PM ^
a good coach but he is pretty much an assclown.
December 17th, 2014 at 6:05 PM ^
Nevermind, your comment applies to both.
December 17th, 2014 at 4:33 PM ^
I expected something like from The Decemberists' Calamity Song: "Setting the lay of Nebraska alight, til all that remains is the arms of the angel". He should have burned the mother down...

He's not wrong.

A perfect match: Jones + Pelini + Tressel
Don't be surprised if the Cleveland Glenville pipeline goes to Youngstown.
December 17th, 2014 at 4:57 PM ^
I don't blame him for saying it - Eichorst and company gave him some rather shitty treatment on the way out at Nebraska, and the AD didn't help himself when he let the players know via e-mail to boot. Not sure I would want to work for someone that had that sort of attitude towards the people that work / play for his department either.
I still believe that for this alone Shawn Eichorst deserves to be in the running for the 1st Annual Black & Decker Massive Tool Award, if we can make this a thing.
December 18th, 2014 at 7:55 AM ^
how you know about his massive tool.
December 17th, 2014 at 5:00 PM ^
Apparently he had quite a bit more to say about it to his players.
I remember getting negged and scoffed at by someone here for suggesting the day he was fired that, given his record, it must have been something personal between the AD and him. Wish I'd cared enough to remember who that was.
December 17th, 2014 at 5:15 PM ^
Damn. It sucks Pelini is gone from Nebraska, but I kind of hope he ends up back in the B10 someday. Although I guess I can enjoy his humorous actions whereverhe coaches.
December 17th, 2014 at 5:32 PM ^
But a likable asshole.
His rants were somewhat classic. What's so wrong with that?
And didn't he average 8 wins a year? Brady would still be here if he did as well.
December 17th, 2014 at 5:46 PM ^
you or others throw out this ridiculous statement
To avg 8 wins per seaon Brady Hoke needed to win just one more game at some point in his 4 years. This would likely have not changed his fate.
December 17th, 2014 at 6:07 PM ^
8.25 wins per year?
December 17th, 2014 at 6:12 PM ^
Pelini averaged 9.4 wins. Never had less than 9 wins in a season.
December 17th, 2014 at 6:29 PM ^
Yeah...that's pretty much false.
December 17th, 2014 at 5:56 PM ^
He looks a lot older than 47 to me.
