OT: The Official Detroit Lions and NFL Open Thread

Submitted by Michigan4Life on

The Lions are in Miami to face Chad Henne and the Dolphins.  Considering the way the Lions defense has been playing for the past few weeks, the Lions have a chance to pull off an another upset.  The Lions could concieveably finish the season with a 4 game winning streak which would set up nicely for the run to the playoff berth next season.

I'm not sure who's going to start at QB for the Lions, Shaun Hill or Drew Stanton.  Both are injured so we will probably see both on the field at some point today.

Goes to show that just about anything good can happen if you're plus 3 in turnover margin for the day . . . if Blue could be +3 every game, we would be in a BCS bowl next year.

Once the Lions get rid of Raiola and are able to run the ball up the middle and get a 3rd wr by cutting Bryant Johnson and  Derrick Williams, this team will be an offensive juggernaut.

Defensively, 2 linebackers and a stud corner and a safety

Handle free agency and the draft right again, and keep Stafford healthy this could be a playoff teams

I think if stafford was healthy, the lions would have 9 wins right now ( bills, bears twice, and jets would have been W's )

On defense we need a couple of linebackers.  I like Levy alot because of his speed.  A couple of defensive backs are needed too.

On offense we need one more WR to complement Megatron.  I really like our tight ends but it really ticks me off to see Pettigrew drop his usual couple a game.  I'm not so sure that Raiola is the problem on the line.  Peterman leads the league in penalties and I don't think he's a good blocker either.  Sorry to say it, but Backus is past his prime.  We need a new LT next year.

Overall, this is a team that is a few bad breaks away from being a .500 team right now and I think if we can pick up a few pieces in the offseason to complement what we have right now we can be a serious contender for the division next year.  GO LIONS!

Yes. Get rid of Raiola. I'm sure he works hard, but he's too small. We never get a good push on 3rd or 4th and short because he can't handle any DLineman by himself.

Need a dependable possession receiver ala Jason Avant to complement Burleson in the slot and Megatron outside.

Spievey and Delmas are a good safety tandom IMO. Need two OLB as I think Levy is a good MLB for the future. Then add a corner and we've got a pretty darn good defense.

Bye Bye to Patrick Peterson. I love the winning streak of course, but I was looking forward to Peterson leading the secondary.

Prince Amukamara is more than good enough to fill the role anyway.

I was thinking 5-11. When Stafford went down I was expecting much worse. So despite the record I do think the Lions have taken a step forward. I'm now hoping for a very smart draft and a healthy Stafford for next year. I'd also like Suh to destroy the Vikings next week.

The Tampa Tribune is calling last week's Lions victory the "Detroit Debacle."  I wonder what the Miami papers will call this game?  The LIons get a two-game road winning streak in Florida.  I guess "on any given Sunday" still holds true in the NFL.
