Fuck that guy and fuck Joe D for drafting him. I know they won a championship and if they drafted Melo who knows, but he will go down as one of the biggest draft busts in the history of the NBA. That draft produced so many all star franchise players and we chose him.

I remember watching the lottery with my roommate and being so pumped the Pistons landed that pick. Then David Aldridge gets on camera and the first question he asked Dumars was, "It's Darko, right?" My roommate and I looked at each other and we said "Who?"

This is the only way it could have ended, right?

Kid could have been a competent NBA player, but he seems to be pretty happy being a giant kickboxer and tattoo afficionado.

Isn't he a kickboxer or something now? The fact that he can't even compete in the EURO league at this point shows you how much his heart was in hoops. Kid got paid and that was the end of it for him.

He retired from basketball in 2012. I don't think he had any intentions of continuing his career after leaving the NBA. If he was in it just for the money, he would have left basketball after his first  or second contract expired. Guy averaged 20+mpg in 5 different seasons. He very easily could have been a good Euro league player for yearsif he wanted to.

So what if he did? People act like he's supposed to feel sorry for being paid. If the NBA offered anyone here millions of dollars, no one's just going to say "Oh well thanks for the offer, but I'm 31 and just an average dude. You should sign someone else. I really wouldn't want to disappoint some fans."
